uhoh. bye bye Blackbeards
FoD is operating under the name oasis adult resort. possibly a new owner?
the fall of BB is only a question of time, i think. there is a lot of rumour about investors interested in costambar area and the renovation of old port - that borders with costambar - has been announced. it's going to be interesting to see how things shape up.
Good point.a rose under a different name... mamasan is still a pimp.
Hola
As long as there is a human race there will always be prostitution.
No new owner for FOD/Oasis. They hired the former manager at BB and he was going to revitilize the place,he lasted only a few weeks.
I think BB's continues for several reasons, one is because they have been there for a long time tucked out of the way and contribute to the community,no noise to speak of whatsoever. Many residents nearby go to BB's to eat at the restaurant including older women. Most importantly they do not take a single peso from clients for the girls and they do not take any money from the girls to work there. If a guy has a problem with a girl he must deal with one of the "mamasans" that deal with the girls and the mamasans do not work directly for BB's,they get paid by a fee that they charge the girls to be on the property. But as everyone knows,if the government decides to shut them down they can as the DR is a lawless country as far as I'm concerned.
Blackbeards has been for sale for quite some time now,a couple of years. John wants too much for it though,$2.4 million USDAs for Blackbeards, the owner is and has been missing for some years, due to health reasons. The day may come, sooner than later, when his family decide to sell for the right price.I always thought,it could be a nice hotel, for regular people, not mongers?

I must be blind,I went through every nook and cranny of their website and could not find anything about it being for sale.the price is listed on their website as 1.3 million. it's been on sale since 2015, i think and the original price was higher. perhaps the current situation regarding prostitution does not invite many buyers interested in keeping the place going as an adult resort.
i don't know if it would work as a regular hotel. there are plenty of rentals in costambar that offer a better deal: one bedroom apartment with kitchen/living rather than a room only. but who knows.
Found it,they have two websites.I must be blind,I went through every nook and cranny of their website and could not find anything about it being for sale.
There's quite a few online escort services operating here. They tell their girls they are protected from in country access to their website by blocking access to the DR, but anyone with a anon. browser can see them.
I have at least three sending me emails on a weekly basis. I don't mind because they have some fairly attractive (if not gullible) girls available.
becareful of the bait and switch tactic....
