I was given Tramadol here, one of the worst experiences I have had.

Tramadol became a controlled substance in NY recently. This opiate synthetic has many running to recovery in large amounts. Lots of people becoming hooked as a result of them getting Tramadol because other opiates were hard to get as they are controlled.

really? OTC here. i took tramadol numerous times. alas, it does nothing for me.

You have no idea the number of tests that she requested for me. Complete blood work, chest X-ray, visit with a cardiologist for a check-up and complete history, and finally an evaluation with the anesthesist.... First time that I had to submit to so many tests before an operation. In Qu?bec they only do the blood tests.... Very precise here before they operate on you...

You had to see a cardiologist? I am impressed! :) In the states prior to surgery a person would
only have to see a specialist if the test results showed some type of abnormality which would
result in concern for the surgeon and he/she requests a second opinion.

I wish you luck with your procedure.

Why, I've had Tramadol after my open heart surgery, easy to take with very little in side effects.

Lucky you, the nausea alone was horrible. I have taken pain killers before but from some reason Tramadol just was not a good experience for me. I always had the feeling like I was there but not really. Not sure if that is the best way to explain it but it was just a bad feeling. Also very vivid nightmares when I used it.

I heard of people also having seizures on it. The upset stomach side effect is norm.

I was sent to a cardiologist pre very minor surgery to remove a cyst from my breast. It's either a routine precaution for patients about to go under total anaesthetic... or about squeezing as much money out of them as possible.

this might be considered 'voluntary ' surgery... as was the implant sirgery initially.

The US and maybe here, asks for a 'good health' certificate from your MD prior to voluntary..... heart health, allergies, etc

Like a ski lift ticket.... you sign a HUGE disclaimer but they still warn you they aren't responsible and check the checker.

death is bad..... see the liposuction thread for further details

Most of the time in the US for any "surgery" you need to have a pre-op clearance. Blood work, EKG, chest x-ray, etc.. Not only is it beneficial to the person having the procedure, it also helps to cover the physicians butt if anything should go wrong.

Spent a week in the clinic there getting over pneumonia. Nursing staff was attentive but food was not so great. Luckily for me my wife stayed on my room and went out to buy food. Clinic was clean and well run. We have seen Dr. Mahia and his wife for a long time. Good Drs. And experienced. Good luck

So far I won't have to stay at the clinic for more than the afternoon... Anyway, in any hospital in the world, the food is awful... lol...

I want to thank you all DR1 members for your concerns and suggestions... Don't worry, I did my due diligence before choosing my doctors, yes they are 2, and they are highly regarded and known... They also practice at the HOMS in Santiago. But I was not interested to go there. I trust the personnel at the Bournigal Clinic.

So next week I will let you know how it went... Operation on July 16th... Thanks again.
