Did the proposed Outback Steakhouse open in Santo Domingo and if so, have any DR travelers eaten there? Appreciate any comments. Thanks

Been there once. It was my first visit to any Outback(my wife has been to others in the US). Great steak. The bloomin' onion is a must-try.

Does anyone know if the Acropolis Outback is open early in afternoon (like 2 pm) like alot of the Outback restaurants are here in the States? Is there any web site info on the Acropolis Mall? Are there any high end stores?

I have eaten at the new outback twice, most recently last night. It is very good, pretty much the same as in the US. I do think they are a bit different as far as what is considered rare or well done etc. When I order medium the prime rib comes pretty rare, red center etc. The bloomin onion is great!

Outback steakhouse - just like USA, except the prices!

I noticed no difference from the US version other than the prices [much much higher in Santo Domingo] and of course the clientele [a preponderance of Dominican jevito wannabes fortifying themselves for another night of excitement ignoring each other at Trios and racing up and down Lincoln]

bon appetit, don't forget your wallet and a good book

A jevito is the (15-25 year old) son of a well-to-do Dominican, who has access to spend his father's money and may flaunt this.

Trios Cafe was an "in" place to be. It recently changed owners and then was affected by negative publicity when a person involved in a drug trafficking deal was shot when about to depart the place in his car. It is located on Abraham Lincoln.

Trios - don't try to go there if you are black

You will be turned away at the door and told there is a "private party" Sad but true. You would receive similar treatment at the Hispanola hotel's disco. Some may try to deny it but the policy is consistent and firm.

There are other more tolerant places to spend your money, whatever your ethnicity.
