Pan Am to Launch Service to Dominican Republic from Miami & San Juan
Announcement Comes As Airline Celebrates Freeport, Bahamas Start
FREEPORT, Bahamas, May 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Pan American Airways today used the occasion of its first flight from Grand Bahamas Island to Orlando Sanford to announce the sale of flights from Miami and San Juan to Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic. The service will begin on May 30, 2002, but is for sale immediately.

Pan Am President Dave Fink said, "This is a very meaningful day for Pan Am as it marks the return to international service. We are not only launching routes with the Bahamas but we are also announcing that we are progressing with our plans for expansion of service throughout the Caribbean." Fink stressed, "We have worked very hard in the last several months to step into this market and we owe a lot to Dominican President Hipolito Mejia's Government, in particular, Minister of Tourism, Dr. Subervi who was critical to the success of this effort. Their commitment to the economic development and expansion of air service in the Dominican Republic will bring great rewards for the region's business climate and overall growth."

Expansion Details:
-- The Dominican Republic service will begin on May 30, 2002 and will
provide non-stop service from Miami, Florida to Puerto Plata, Dominican
Republic.
-- Routes between Puerto Plata and San Juan will also begin on May 30,
2002.
-- The new route system will connect the Orlando Sanford International
Airport with Miami.
-- The airline's affiliate, Boston-Maine Airways, is expected to announce
details of new service between Naples, Florida and Miami quite soon.
-- Information on reservations and fares can be found at www.FLYPANAM.com,
by telephone at 1-800-FLYPANAM or through your local travel agent.

Dan Fortnam, Pan Am's Vice President of Marketing, was very pleased with the announcement stating, "This expansion would not have been possible without the tremendous efforts of Juan Carlos Hernandez of Servair. It was with his help that we were able to realize this project in a timely and efficient manner."

The expansion of the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico routes is being done as part of a strategic relationship with Turavia, Puerto Rico and Ameliea Cachaldora, President of Miami based MK Tours and Expert Travel in Orlando. These travel professionals and their companies have already been quite valuable to Pan Am's existing Caribbean service and Pan Am is pleased to be expanding their relationship for this service.

The announcement of Pan American Airways' expansion came as the airline officially launched its service with Freeport, Bahamas. The event was marked with news conferences and "Wheels Up" celebrations at the Grand Bahamas International Airport and the Orlando Sanford International Airport. The Bahamas service will be aboard Pan Am's Clipper Class Boeing 727-200 aircraft. The service will feature non-stop flights from the Orlando Sanford International Airport.

Fink concluded the announcement by emphasizing, "In the earliest days of air travel, Pan Am was responsible for being the first to develop business and leisure service in the Caribbean and South America. The expansion of service to the Bahamas today is in keeping with our commitment of quality and we believe this reflects well on our stewardship of the Pan Am tradition."

Pan-Am

Finally!!
awake Up call for American Airlines

Competition is going to come from Pan-Am
an Air Line that had better flights and service, when they were flying into Puerta Plata then AA or Cont. TWA or any other airline.

I Flew Pan Am all the time into Puerta Plata and always had a great flight and service, there flight attendents and ticket agents were always there to help you if you had a problem and treated you respect (something that most of the airlines have forgoten about)and I will be flying into Puerta Plata when they open.

We should All Try their Flights and Send American Airlines a

LOUD MESSAGE!

that people are tired of the service that AA throws at it clients (because they are the only Game in town) everyone should try the new Service from
Pam Am
I know I Will be flying Pan Am

how long in business?

Please buy your Pan Am tickets with a credit card, that way when they go out of business (for the FOURTH TIME!!!) you can maybe get some of your money back.

Remember, this is Pan Am # 3.....not the same as PA #1......

well at this point I would be willing to strap myself to the back of a pigeon to get to santiago around mid june, as long as he charged me less than 250, so I'll take my chances. The first flights have got to go out anyway, if I could only get in touch with them...

Well, Pan Am has flown out of Bangor, Maine and Portsmouth New Hampshire for a long time. When I tried to book a flight to Puerto Plata, I found out that I can't get there from here. I cannot even get to Miami via Pan Am. So, I can fly AA to Miami and then Pan Am to DR, but this just doesn't make sense. Anyone know why I can't get there on Pan Am?????

Just a note: I was in Florida last week and was going to take the AA trip from Miami to DR for $139. It was a last minute decision, and then I couldn't find my daughter's birth certificate. I have been procrastinating with their passports. I couldn't believe it! We were right there, and couldn't go.
