We where searching on the internet and found Paraiso de Colon, has anyone stayed at this hotel?
What are your thoughts/reviews?
How far away is it from Puerto Plata - time wise?
Any info would be appreciated.

It is a german owned and run resort that is pretty nice. Located across the main E-W Road in Sosua about 8 minutes from the airport. Mostly Germans stay there.

Escott, the current owners seem to be Remo and Leonor Gastaldello and according to his passport Remo is Italian but born in Lima, Peru. That's as German as Rudy Guliani's Polish.
Plenty of Lederhosen in 99 but last time I stayed(nov03) I didn't spot one. And yes, it's pretty nice and kwyit!! Love their pool

Archeology

Bigbird is officially the DR1 archeologist digging up the oldest yet totally useless posts.

You have a long walk ....make that a really long walk or an 8 minute moto trip from this dump to Sosua Central.

Thanks for the reply. I am looking at my options for lodging while in Sosua. The original post was found using the search function. As I wanted a little more information I kept the thread going instead of starting a new one. So in my case it is a usefull post.

Thanks again for the info. I can cross this place off the list. I may be wrong but it seems there are a dozen or less places in Sosua to stay (mid to low price).
