The people of San Juan de la Maguana marched on Saturday, 29 October 2022 against the government permitting the mining exploitation requested by GoldQuest in San Juan de la Maguana. The company says it will use rainwater for the mining operation. The local people say the underground mining operation it will affect the water sources for human use and farming.
