Hello!!
I just got back from one of the best vacations ever!!! I stayed at the Playa Dorada Beach Resort in Playa Dorada area and the hotel was great: two swimming pools, beach just three steps down, Fun leaders that have activities all day - beach volley, pool volley, waterpolo, waterbasketball, dart, boule (petanque in french?) and much more. Entertainment every night on stage, sometimes games and somtimes show with dancers and singers (Las Vegas type...).The winners from the day?s competitions get Diplomas on stage around 9.30 pm and the show is usuallay between 10-11 pm. Everynight ends with the funleaders and whoever that want to join in the Occidental Fun Club dance.
They also have activities for children during the day and evening and offcourse they get Diplomas on stage to but children hour is between 20-21 pm.
If you don?t know how to dance the Merengue, you?ll be a proffessional after your stay in Domincan Rep!!!
The food was terrific:
Dinner - buff? restaurant with different buff?s everyday (Italian, French, Dominican, Mexcian German etc) and you can also book tables (for dinner)at the Italian restaurant, Mexican restaurant and a grill restaurant once a week at each of these. There is also a pizza restaurant that in the low season is located in the Italian restaurant where you can go whenever you want. Lunch is in the Buff? or at the Italian or at a smaller lunch restaurant by the new swimmingpool.
Breakfast is always at the Buff?.
Drinks are just fine, the wine that?s included may not be the best though. Yoy can always order what you want, but then you might have to pay for it. Normal drinks are free - all kinds of soda, Rum, Gin, Vodka, Pina Colada etc. But then it is Domestic, same thing with Amaretto, Brandy and so on.
Nearest city is Puerto Plata, but there is a shopping center in the Playa Dorada area.
Yoy can go diving or snorcling (spelling??) in Sousoa and there are different tours to take.
Nightlife: after the show you can go to one of the 3 discos in the area (open until3 pm)or maybe try a Dominican one in Puerto Plata (open I think 24hrs). They mix "normal music" with Merengue and Bachata. There is also a pub in the shoppingcenter called Hemmingways Caf?, where they have live music some nights. On mondays and thursdays they have Karaoke and then it is packed... Open until 02 pm.
