But neither of your recommended operators will work for me - Sunholidays closest departure city is Toronto, and Sunquest only goes to POP, and not PUJ.

It looks as if it may have to connecting, expensive, scheduled flights.

Yeah NW has a seasonal services from DTW to PUJ..if not you other option is DTW-SJU NW1716 dep at 915am-153p and the AA5204 SJU-PUJ DEP at 525p-619p (american Eagle ATR).
