I have gone to beach several times. No problems. The hotel manager where I live called cestur (after the incident) and they told her, 4pm is the closure, and 3pm on Sundays. Yesterday,,Sunday they ran everyone off at 3. The point is simple. They do what they want. There is no consistently, like say a law, to guide them. They dont post the rules for people to follow. And nice people not trying to break any laws, get swept up and taken to Fruisa station for ZERO reason. Its just plain stupidity.

I do not know where you live, but in Sosua and Cabarete beaches and rivers are still closed... Yes there are signs at the beach that they are closed (if it would be easy to post a photo I would) also like already mentioned if you look at the four phase plan there at the bottom you find the statment:

Also the closure of the beaches, pools, rivers and public pools stays in effect.

The very last sentence of the 4 phase chart.

I am told today that the Cabrera area had another beach 'round-up' y'day

The Boca (la Entrada), Caleton (RSJ) among them... lots of people removed , taken away, fined
Don't know much - don't want to find out

I like the idea of open until 3pm or 4pm
Wish I was there !!

I took a friend to Central Medico in Puerto Plata last week and it was slower than any time I have ever been to any emergency room in this country. I commented on that to one of the nurses or technicians and they agreed, very quiet. My friend, and me for translating purposes were in and out in record time. I didn't hear or see anyone, I mean not one person, coughing or sneezing.

Well, we up here in Puerto Plata are the ones NOT following the guidelines PLUS we had the self proclaimed profit up here with thousands marching to the beach. I go to the Malecon almost every day and lately there are between 300-400 out daily, most now have masks but 50% have them hanging around their necks. Mine is in my pocket. I go to Sosua and have a few bars where I meet up with friends to enjoy a few cold ones and THEN, once a week when I drive down to see friends and take care of business in Santiago 99% of the people in the streets not only have masks but have them covering their faces. Just stating facts that I obverse and experience for myself.

Yesterday 15 people were rounded up in La Cienaga, Cabarete for not wearing masks. The only reason it was not a lot more people is that the police van only held 15 people.

This morning one of my painters suffered a ladder mishap while working in Juan Dolio. Thankfully, only an ankle mishap. As he has medical insurance, we transported him to Centro Médico Especializado Macoríx in San Pedro de Macorís (where I am personal friends with an orthopedic surgeon), rather than the public hospital.

The clinic was operating as usual, with only one patient in front of my worker in the emergency triage room. Seven of the eight beds were unoccupied.

While waiting for his x-ray to take place, a quick observance of the waiting facilities showed no crowded areas. The largest segment of persons awaiting consultations were pregnant women waiting for sonograms or visits with their gynecologists. I asked the attending triage nurse if they have received any Covid-19 patients, and she stated that they had two, during the last week of April. No others, and no further information provided.

Nothing further to detail, and nothing resembling the hysteria many are reporting supposedly occurring nationwide.

(I am sharing this posting here in response to Mr. Garyexpat's posting, and also the Coronavirus in DR thread line as it probably fits more appropriately there)

I believe it is the ICU rooms that are taken up (by Covid-19 patients) not the regular hotel beds.

That must be the problem.
Alll the Covid-19 infected persons on ventilators must be sequestered in hotels. No wonder we are not seeing or hearing of them in clinics and hospitals.

there aren't many cases of covid 19 in DR. the numbers have been jacked up to scare people into not coming out and voting on july 5th. this trick had been predicted a couple of months ago and government is doing just that. PLD is on the course of losing the elections and they will do anything to postpone or cancel the elections on july 5th. They need more time to buy the votes and change the opinion of the people.

I posted in an article in a thread yesterday from the Diario Libre that said 40%+ of deaths listed from the VIrus the people "probably" died from the Virus. It had the median age at 65 and almost 1/3 of the people that died had blood pressure or heart disease and 20+% were Diabetics. This shut down, globally not just here is going to kill and destroy MANY more lives than the virus from Wuhan.

You, I, and several others understand this.
Unfortunately, a large segment of the community within does not want to hear this.

The numbers of Covid deaths have been tampered with in all nations, most especially the U.S., Canada and Western Europe for political reasons.
It took three months of this pandemic before I finally knew several people who caught Coronavirus. Two are neighbors , and one is a coworker.
Before contracting the virus all of them believed that it was nonsense that was being exaggerated.
Know what they say now?
NOW that they had Covid-19 they say that they're 100% certain that the Coronavirus scare is total, exaggerated BULLSH*T.

More and more evidence is coming to light to prove that.

Without a renewal to the state of emergency, the rumors are flying again. Will they impose a new SOE after the election, trying to put the genie back in the bottle? Good luck with that.

The Minister of Health has his own pandemic emergency now. What exactly can be done to restrict people in the name of health can he do? Can he force mask usage, implement fines, have "social distancing" requirements by law or just make recommendations that people could ignore at will?
