In the last glory days of POP I worked at the resorts on the north side. Most catered to Butlins class British tourists (no disrespect) and Canadians looking for a bang for the buck deal in the sun. Many resorts had little to no reinvestment, with a noticeable lack of maintenance. When they moved me to PUJ, it was like a luxury-class destination in comparison. PUJ was built from the ground up to be a moderate to upscale location. Like it or not, it has been a great success and it continues to grow. As a resort destination, POP and the North have to figure out what they want to reinvent themselves as. So far, all I see is a little bit here and a little bit there, with no real blueprint.
That being said, I always enjoy my weekend getaways to the northside!
