President Luis Abinader said that inflation closed the year at 3.57%. He made the remark during the Monday, 15 January 2024 press conference. The President said effective fiscal and economic policies reigned in inflation. The impact of the Russia and Ukraine war caused rising inflation.

The President recalled inflation was brought down from a peak of 9.64% in April 2022 to 3.57% at the end of 2023.

Abinader added that the projected fiscal deficit for 2023 was 3.2% and ended at 3.1%, lower than expected.

Yeah - lying is not how to get reelected. Were it only 4% that would be great.
We all know it was much more significant and way higher than that

There are many ways that "inflation " data can be formulated. We had that discussion here some time back. As I recall essential items/parts of the data can be left in or out.You can play 3 card monte with the numbers and unless the reader plays VERY close attention to the details you can find an inflation report to fit the occasion...so to speak.
