On tour of recovery efforts for Hurricane Fiona in the southeast, President Luis Abinader took time off to tour the filming site for MGM’s Road House remake in La Romana. The film industry is a major financial booster of the Dominican Republic.
Abinader visited the set of Road House that is rolling in La Romana and San Pedro de Macorís. The set for Road House was built by Dominican craftsmen in Guayacanes, San Pedro de Macorís.
President Abinader was photographed with lead actors Jake Gyllenhall and Conor McGregor at the Lantica Studios in San Pedro de Macoris. The head of the production company, Albert Martinez. Martínez said film productions carried out at the company have injected around US$200 million into the economy.
Since 2021, different productions have injected some US$395 million into the economy.
