President Luis Abinader received the praise and recognition of President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa of Portugal during his state visit to Lisbon, Portugal on Tuesday, 28 May 2024. President Abinader is in Portugal with his wife and three daughters as part of a work vacation that ends with the return on 1 June 2024.

President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa in his welcoming words spoke of the rare situation of welcoming a President who was ending his mandate and about to start another one. signed an agreement to work for building artificial intelligence rules for the Dominican Republic, a follow-up to the recent step the European Union has taken in building the rules for Europe.

Looked up this european artificial intelligence act in wikipedia:

"High-risk – AI applications that are expected to pose significant threats to health, safety, or the fundamental rights of persons."

Portugal has the highest mrna vaccination rates in europe and hence currently the highest excess mortality.
Also violated human rights and tyrannized the population with draconian measurements.

Now this people want to help Dominicans on human rights related topics in a field where they have the same level of experience as with biology: nothing, nada.
What can possibly go wrong, trust the experts.

Seems Abinader is looking more towards the EU maybe seeing European EU countries as potential partners. That would be great news.

When I read this I myself wondered what this trip was all about... Is the DR president being wooed to align the DR to the doctrines of the EU leaders?

I hope not... Reasons beginning with the WHO, and moving on to farming, economic turmoil, gagging free speech, and leadership manipulation.

I do though support the DR gaining aid to help with Haitian immigration/refugee matters... Just not if it comes with requirements beyond the aid being used fo what it was given to be used for,

Sorry to say that the probability in finding potential partners would be to apply for BRICs membership.

Europes economic potential is going downhill, These days BASF annonced the selling of key chemical plants for the basic products for fertilzers, plastics, paints the automobile sector (and everyone) depends on. Hundreds of thousands of employees will be affected by this decisions and whole industries will disappear. Shutting down nuclear and coal power plants and cutting ties with the only gas supplieng country has cons.
Add to that that today green lights are given to attack russia with western long range weapons and that a long range to detect nuclear missiles was damaged deep inside russia to blindfold them. At least all sea roads for oil imports and all gas import will come to a full stop if the conflict is pushed by western leaders. Europe is being sacrified.

Best Abinadar would concentrate on the agricultur potential of the D.R. and attract future potential tourist from BRICs.

I agree with the agriculture industry potential. My favorite DR industry. Tourists can come from anywhere.
