CMC is a private clinic. Emergency room treatment is 100% covered with insurance. If you're a gringo with no insurance and go there, be sure to bring along some KY Jelly.
My sister-n-law is the head auditor for one of the largest hospitals in central FL. Trust me, thanks to their hiring preferences these days, far worse things are happening when it comes to patient care.CMC isn't much to speak of. Recently I took someone with a broken foot to CMC, they took X-rays and then wanted too much for the cast. So they send the X-rays to his smart phone and off we went to Puerto plata public. When they opened the X-rays they were for someone else's chest. Had to do it all again. I guess they try but that isn't what you want when you have to go to the hospital.
Seems better to focus on current information about any actual hospitals coming to Sosua since the one in this thread likely won't be coming anytime soon.
Ok I will slow it down for youThe intent of the thread when it was started was for current info on the proposed new public hospital for Sosua.
Ok I will slow it down for you
Yes it should be about current information however it is about an article for a hospital proposed over 10 years ago that he thought was current information until some pointed it out to him that the article was old
So lets talk about current information instead of old articles .
Duh
Ok Mr ModeratorIn the OP Windy wrote: "Instead of the beach renovation thread, a discussion on a new hospital built by the government for Sosua could go on here."
He then went on to mention a previous project in his second post.
Actually I’m pretty sure Windy knows article was 10 yrs old, he has been here longtime… he is just giving incite on topic for people who don’t remember past promises by gov..Ok I will slow it down for you

You musta missed the thread about Easton's wife Andrea.During my first trip to Sosua I was still wearing some stiches I picked up in Jamaica a few weeks earlier. (bar fight but i didnt start it) When it came time to have them removed someone recommended CMC to me so I went.
They had me in and out of there in under 30 minutes. The Doctor was young but nice as can be and removed them at no charge.
Free? Yep.
I think I threw him like 500 pesos afterwards and told him lunch is on me.
Since then I've recommended CMC to a few dozen visitors/ tourist in Sosua. Never heard anyone say anything negative about the care they recieved there.
Unfortunately, yes.Wouldn’t you go CMC first , stabilize then transfer need be?
The last 15-18 years in the US the care has become abysmal - with the exceptions of some very good doctors it is all about billing insurance companies to the hilt. I am not sure but it seems it all began going downhill about the time Obamacare was being proposed, but that may not be the whole story. My sister-n-law is the head auditor for one of the largest hospitals in central FL. That is where the ambulance took him,a mutual gringo friend called 911. I agree with SKY they should have thrown him in ANY vehicle but I don't think it would have mattered.Wouldn’t you go CMC first , stabilize then transfer need be?
You are getting robbed. I use a United Health care Medicare Advantage plan and pay NOTHING in addtion to Part B. And I have had 3 Major operations and paid no co-pays.......Also there are NO referrals necessary. I can book appointments from here and just show up with NO co pay......The last 15-18 years in the US the care has become abysmal - with the exceptions of some very good doctors it is all about billing insurance companies to the hilt. I now pay over $600 and change monthly for my Medicare Advantage. That's slightly over $7,200 yearly. It hasn't always been that high but over the last 6 years I am sure I've paid over $33,000.
I've used it a 4 times at the dermatologist but never approaching what I've paid in.
Maybe I received $$3,500 worth of treatments - definitely not a win for me.
I have been thinking about dropping it, because I don't see myself going back to live in a country where they can't define a woman and crime seems to be rewarded.
And of course since the level of medical care is about the same level of shyte now in both places why bother the expensive of going to the US only to get 3rd world medical treatment, when I can get that here ?
A good new hospital, public or private, in Sosua would be super because even though I have DR insurance I find CMC sorely lacking in speed and quality of service. And with that detour for the Cangrejo bridge being a cluster-f*ck it can take precious time in an emergency now getting to Puerto Plata
What income do you report on your 1040 - that's the deciding factor in what they chargeYou are getting robbed. I use a United Health care Medicare Advantage plan and pay NOTHING in addtion to Part B. Let me take a guess. You don't use AARP, or do you. And my Medicare Advantage plan has no clue or care about any tax form..............I assume you are on SS also............What income do you report on your 1040 - that's the deciding factor in what they charge
