Have stayed at La Posada de Piedra and found it more than acceptable for the $40/night we paid. The cleanliness thing is a big one for me and I found it excellent in this respect. Never did eat breakfast there as we headed down to the beach early. There is a supermarket directly across the street too if you require non-perishables. (no fridge in B & B or cama y desayuno)!

Although there is no AC, our room faced the ocean and we were fortunate to have the beautiful ocean breeze.

Fewe expectations= fewer disappointments.

Good luck and enjoy!

hi drloca,
nice said and absolutely right.
if you need luxury you def have to take an AI resort, if you want to be closer to real dominican life, spend less bucks and enjoy the area your won way a bed & breakfast lodging is a good idea.
but be careful with your budget calculations.
right beside the posada de piedra are several local fast food restaurants, they are good, i eat on the way of my job most days on the street at those restaurants, it is dominican food, rice, beans, chicken, fied or cooked, that food is mostly prepared very greasy.
if this is not your kind of food you'll find in el cortecito sevarla good restaurants, like the very good steak house at the Cortecito inn across the street, Capitan Cook and Langosta de Caribe beach restaurants specialized on seafood, but here you have to set your travel budget much higher, eating at those spots on daily bases will make your stay for sure a bit more expensive than an all inclusive arrangement with flight, room and food together.
have a great time on our lovely island
Mike

Rocky is right,
driving down from puerto plta takes the whole day, next day wedding, next day full day backdrive, that's a hard job, plan 2 more days to relax and enjoy your visit.
have fun
Mike
