one big issue is , even if they do have a decent education and go to university, what jobs are waiting for them here other that doctor lawyer teacher ?
Most people with university degrees (which is a minority in just about every country, in the US it doesn’t even gets up to 30% while in the DR it could be an even lower percentage) don’t end up working in what they got their title in.

I have also heard many in the Dominican media make a case about Dominican politicians not having university degrees in Political Science (when they do have one, it’s in something else.) Yet, in all countries very few of the politicians are in fact Political Scientists. That’s a fact that seem to escape many that complain about that regarding Dominican politicians. They simply want to use that argument to explain things like the inneficiency and corruption, but that’s nonsense since all governments are full of people that didn’t major in Political Science, yet sll governments aren’t the same.

I think they simply want to complaint. I have even heard some complain that there are Dominican congressmen and senator from low levels of society. Essentially, they are complaining that the DR government isn’t elitist. I bet if it was, the same complainers would then be complain only “popis” can be politicians in the DR.

If the governent has politicians that hsil from all levels of society, like the Dominican one, isn’t that the point? To be inclusive so that some of say the Congressmen are from wealthy powerful families and others are from some campo in the middle of nowhere?

Political science graduates enjoy the same academic and intellectual prowess as do business, marketing and psychology majors. Most make a great living bartending and waiting tables.

The amount of DR professionals working like these is bigger than you think. Those you won't see it in bad neighborhoods or drinking at streets or doing "teteos".
I would go as far as to say the ones who are the true DR professionals are the majority. Out of sight, out of mind.
