Question: Cabarete vs. Samana?

I would say that the two are not comparable except for being both on the coast. Samana is a small slightly touristic town with very high prices and whales.
Cabarete does not have whales.

Samana:

No, You cannot kitesurf there.
No, accommodations are not cheap.

What was the other?

The atmosphere is absolutely not like Sosua.
You will commit suicide from boredom after two days.


See the whales, fabulous and unforgettable......come home after.

Really depends on your personality and purpose of your trip. Samana (LT) is better if you want a nice relaxing trip with your wife or girlfriend. The beaches are tranquil and the restaurants are small and can have a romantic atmosphere. If you are a party animal and water sports person Cabarete is better. I have no problem with either French or Italians in general.

Well, Samana City is a work in progress.
It is very hard to compare it to Cabarete or Las Terrenas,
as they have personalities world apart.
The Town itself is re-awakening from a long sleep...
The new Mayor of Town, Mr.Miguelin Bezi is doing a great job of keeping the town clean and safe. The town scenery is simply beautiful and the Bay of Samana is simply spectacular. People are taking notice, newcomers are opening new cafes, bars, restaurants small hotels and nightclubs.
