The National Hurricane Center of the United States recommends closely monitoring a weather system in formation that is likely to affect the southwestern Caribbean Sea, including the southwestern Dominican Republic.
The system is expected to produce heavy rains that could result in flash flooding and mudslides. The Dominican Republic is on the list of countries that should continue monitoring the weather disturbance’s progress.
The NHC says that disorganized showers and thunderstorms will persist in association with a trough of low pressure that is located in the southwestern Caribbean.
The National Weather Office (Onamet) in the Dominican Republic warns of heavy rains as of Friday, 17 November 2023 as the system located to the southwest moves to the island of Hispaniola.
More news will be available as the storm develops.
