Rays star shortstop Wander Franco accused of inappropriate relationship

Tampa Bay Rays baseball star Wander Franco is under investigation by the National Agency for Boys, Girls, Adolescents and Family and Gender Violence Unit, Listin Diario reports. Tampa Bay Rays took action following the allegation that Franco had an inappropriate relationship with a minor. Sex with minors is banned by law in the Dominican Republic.

The 22-year old shortstop Franco is married.

After the allegations first emerged in August 2023, the Rays placed Franco on a leave of absence and began removing images of him from their stadium, pulling ads that featured him in highlights, and Franco’s merchandise appears to have been removed from the team’s stores.

Not long after, the MLB put Franco on administrative leave for the final 42 games of last season.

In July 2023, Franco had made his first All-Star team. He last played for the Rays on 12 August 2023.

"inappropriate relationship with a minor" they call it when you are a milionar. Otherwise is's called rape if she was a minor, regardless of her consent or without it.
My guess; he dumped her and $$$ stopped coming in and all the sudden it became "inappropriate", but like mentioned before from NanSanPedro; we will never know the whole truth.

A 17 Year old is not a victim , and the Man is not a Pedo .

IMO the Authorities should focus on the REAL PEDOS .. there are a LOT of them out there , true scum who prey on Kids ..
We have all run into them at some point .. those people are truly sick .

Any 17 year old Good Looking Female in the DR , with a new Jeepeta, and bragging about her famous new Novio, is hardly the Victim of a Predator .

He needed to be more careful. He knew (hopefully) that he was in a position due to his MLB status that he had to watch what he did, the people he associated with. Again, these players are told from day one what to stay away from, girls (underage), drugs, etc... With fame and money comes responsibility.

as I have stated many times before it all comes down to education,

What's really sad is many under age girls throw themselves at people with a few dollars on advice from their family .For me its not morally right I don't need a law to tell me right from wrong .Wander is dead wrong but don't forget Wander is only 22 and she has 17. its not that much different,. it's not like he is 55yrs old praying on 17yr old

Just to be clear, my comment in post 6 about Dominican men with 17 year old girls has nothing to do with Wander. I have no idea how old his accuser is.

Not the first time that P...y destroyed a kingdom. In the Middle Ages when they did not manage to conquer or destroy a foreign country by force, they did send a georgous women to marry the King and do the job for them. Certain things just never change.

Agree 100% about education. I also think the way the DR looks at relationships as far as age, etc...is different than say how the USA may look at them.
