Travelling to Barahona for 3 days. Do anyone know of a decent, safe, inexpensive hotel there? Do anyone know the telephone number for the dominican evangelical church in Barahona? Thank you.

Leon~ Try the Micheluz near the Parque Central at 809-524-2358. Cost should be $10/20US per night. Very clean, nice Bed & Breakfast (more or less). Some rooms w/AC, some w/just ceiling fan. Few blocks walk to the ocean. Many churches nearby, but don't have phone numbers for them. Are you already in country? Suggestions for beach trips...El Quemaito (coral reef), San Raphael (river runs into ocean w/man made pool, big waves, fresh fried fish), Los Patos (peaceful). Two organizations I volunteered with, Habitat for Humanity & Community Partners are located nearby, if you need/want contacts...email me. ~Sarah

The best hotel in Barahona is Hotel Riviera. tel 809 524 5111 Theres another larger hotel in Bahruco thats just about to be opened by the chain Barcelo.

I agree. Good hotel near the center of town. I was there a year ago and I would do nicely for a mission team. I can't help you with the rest. You could try contacting Younglife, or Youth with a Mission in the Capital for leads.
