I havent been to the DR yet so Im seeking your opinions re 'holiday romances' and how one should handle the economics of the situation, given the economic inequality of the two people involved (Dominican and tourist)
Is there an unspoken "understanding" of how things should be done?
In DR is it like elsewhere.... where male tourists will pay all expenses when with a local woman and give her some cash as well, whereas female tourists may expect the Dominican male to contribute a little bit and not give cash but give rather expensive gifts?
So (from a womans point of view) is it acceptable to dance with, sleep with and enjoy the company of a local man then give NO gift or cash and if he asks say "my understanding was that you we equally enjoyed the pleasure of each others company. I'm not going to pay you for your time."?
