This is how Dominicans buy / sell real estate. Only extranjeros use real estate agents. Dominicans use one of two methods.
1. Ask your family, neighbors, friends, etc. if they know of anything in a particular area for sale. Once they know you want to buy, information will flow to you. May take a year, but it is Dominican time. No hurry.
2. Put out a big sign to sell, or look for signs to buy. For example, if I wanted to buy in my old neighborhood of Velazcasa in Santo Domingo, I would drive around the neighborhood looking for signs, and collect the phone numbers. Again, no hurry.
