Record FDI for first quarter 2024

The Export and Investment Center of the Dominican Republic (Pro Dominicana) announced Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) during the first quarter of 2024 set a new record. US$1.28 billion was registered at the Central Bank, for an interannual increase of 2.4%.

In sectoral terms, this behavior responds to the increase registered in the real estate, communications and tourism sectors, according to the Central Bank statistics.

Biviana Riveiro Disla, executive director of ProDominicana, says what is most outstanding is that the increase happened during an electoral year, a time when people have traditionally adopted a wait and see attitude. She also said this is the first time that FDI exceeds US$1 billion during the first quarter of the year.
