This may be slightly off topic, but to do with Residencia. I don't know if this has been posted before ... I had my Residencia Permanent July 2019 at which time I paid 24000 pesos being told it was good for 4 years. When I received the tarjeta is was good for only ONE year ! July this year I have attempted to renew it now to be told that I need to pay 17 700 pesos (maybe to start with) 12 000 pesos for the Residencia ; 4500 pesos for a blood test and 1200 pesos because 2 months have elapsed since July !!
Can anyone give me the information or where to look to find the actual Fees for renewal . Can you renew for a period of more than one year and if so what are the rates. This doesn't include costs to renew my Cedula !

It seems that I could overstay for 4 years and still only pay 18 000 pesos departure Tax ! Therefore what incentive is there to pay 18K each year for Residencia ? Do the Government not want us here ?

Most residency starts with a few one year residency cards. Was this your first card?

Just so you know. I applied to renew my permanent residency in May (the first year renewal. ) Everything is taken care of..... The medical and all the other hoops to jump through and payments made. I am still waiting on my appointment to return. First of June my residency expired.

I don't know about costs. But my lawyer says that with the change in government things are taking longer.

Thank you , those of you have replied my question / comment.

Windeguy ... yes that was my first years Permanent Residency. ( I was told by my Solicitor that after 5 years paying for the Temporary status , the Permanent was for 4years. )( perhaps I should get a new Solicitor !! )

I have had blood tests taken 3 weeks ago (for general state of health) but they won't accept these results despite being taken by the same clinic in Sosua that is used in Puerto Plata.

If as Lindsey says, everything is being delayed , it then seems they charge you for the lapse in time from when the application was made to when it is received. ( I should know better ... I've lived here long enough ! )

I'm still trying to find the information for both renewal fees for the Residencia and my Cedula . Last year I recall there were lists of Fees posted in the respective Offices which outlined costs according to the number of years that you wanted to apply for ? Unfortunately I did not take any notice at the time.... anyway the goalposts have probably moved since then !!!

The 5th renewal is the 4 yr - isn't it?

4 x 1 yr.... then 4 yr ??
Yes that is what I thought !!! In fact I paid 5years Temporary which entitled me to the Permanent ... which as I said , believed was then good for 4 years.... NOT SO only got I year ! That's why I'm trying to determine what is the cost to renew the Permanent this time around . Is it the 12000 pesos my solicitor is telling me ? Maybe I should look on line to see if there's a Governmental data sheet ?

After 5 renewals ( note: it is renewals not years) of our temporary, our first permanent was in 2018. It was for one year. Our second permanent was in 2019 and it was for 4 years. Sorry, but don’t remember what we paid. But who knows what it will be like tomorrow, rules change there all the time.
