So residency renewal is coming up soon and I see that one of the requirements is Certificado de no Antecedentes Penales. Or I assume the dreaded FBI record check correct? I needed one for my initial residency request. They're looking for a new one correct? Anyone done this lately and could just affirm that? Then it looks like I need to get it notarized and apostilized (sp?) and returned back here? Ugh.

As drstock said, it's the " local" certificado de no antecedentes penal " that they want for residency renewal.

Also as drstock said, you can do it online.

Or you can get a " impuesta" at BanResevas for around 500 pesos.

Then take that to one of the new multi-centers for govement stuff ( no idea what's it's called ). In Santiago there is a huge one at LaSirena, the one just off the autopista when coming from the North.
In and out in about 3 minutes.

How soon can one begin residency renewal online? Is it 45 days or 30 days before expiration of existing residency?

And one still has to go to the Immigration office in Santo Domingo, correct?

I renewed my license here in San Cristobal. It would be great if I could renew my residency and cedula in the same office.

Yes, still have to go to the big city. You can start online, just how soon online. Is it 45 or 30 days before expiration?
