I recently applied for my Dominican Residency. I paid a fine for over staying my visa. I am planning on leaving the country for a few days and don't want to pay the fine again at the airport. Any suggestions?

Do you have papers showing that your residency application is in process? If so, show them, especially if you have anything from government that confirms that.

I had a notarized letter from a lawyer saying that he was in the process of applying for my residency. They laughed at it at the airport and made me pay RD$4,000. If you have a receipt from the fine you paid and it is dated less than thirty days ago you may be OK.
