I was looking through the posts in this section for something on resturants in Las Terrenas. I didn't see anything until I got back to page 14 which was dated Nov,2008. Has anything changed as far as resturants in Las Terrenas since then? Are there any new places? I love to eat good food. Would I be better off staying in Punta Cana or can I find plenty of good places to eat in Las Terrenas? Can I get a good steak in Las Terrenas without paying an arm and a leg? What about somewhere that serves lobster or crab legs? All help is greatly appreciated.

The Hotel Atlantis in LT also has a great restaurant. French food. The owner used to be employed by President Mitterand. A former French President.

Restaurants in Las Terrenas

Hi:

I live in Las Terrenas. There are many good restaurants. Los Pinos is a great restaurant. It is located on right as you drive down Playa Poppi about half way down the strip heading from downtown. This place has an appetizer bar included with the meal and a very extensive menu. I had one of the best Filets in a mushroom sauce I have had anywhere. The price with drinks and tip is about $25.00 US. In los pueblo de los pescudores located at the beginning of Playa Las Terrenas there are many good restaurants also. La Cayuca located at the beginning of the restaurant strip is alway very good. Their paella is excellent. Also a place not to be missed is Louis' restaurant on Playa Coson. This is a very informal place right on the beach. They grill shrimp, lobster, chicken, octopus. They give you salad, french fries and rice with your entre' and prices are very reasonable for the portions. Follow the road to Playa Coson and after you cross over the new highway, about 1/2 mile ahead you will see a sign for the entrance to Louis'. Bring your appetite and your bathing suit. The beach there is beautiful and the wave action great for body surfing. Bon appetite.

I'll second Los Pinas' restaurant, run by an Italian [who I think also owns the hotel]. We actually stayed there a couple of nights, and had dinner there the first night. They didn't start serving until 7.30 pm and wow, was it delicious. The appetizer bar was scrumptious. It was so good that we didn't even look for another place to eat while we were there, we just kept going back and ordering different entrees.

Los Pinos, yes, but also the Mambo, and for a good pizza and mainly the nice people who ownes it , Pizza Coco, all of them on the road from Lt direction Portillo.
On the other side, La Terrasse was very good.
On the beach Cosson Luis of course - but to me it is worth more for the fun of a "tyical" place than for the food.
And of course "the beach" at the end of Cosson, refined food in a lovely area.

I am in Las Terrenas now -- my first time here.

I can vouch for Restaurant Luis. I was just there this afternoon, and had the most delicious grilled fish meal ever. The person serving my food told me the name of the fish in Spanish, but I can't find the translation. It sounded like "dorrito." Does anyone know the translation in English?

Mahi-mahi fish also known widely as dorado, it is one of only two members of the Coryphaenidae family, the other being the pompano dolphinfish. Courtesy of Wikipedia.

Wow, what a name. That was the most tasty fish I've ever had! Definitely will go back for more.
