No doubt, but have you tried checking in online leaving the DR. I have tried many times, with JetBlue, Delta, and AA and never succeeded.
Same here. To DR I check in online when possible; more choice of available seats and that we are already registered in case of overbooking or other circumstances. Just a little peace of mind and not much more than that.

I have done so with Delta but as Sky pointed out, it is kinda useless as the process you have to undergo in STI is same as if you have not checked in online.

Are you saying that when you leaving the DR you can get your boarding pass online and don't have to go to the ticket counter and show your passport when you leave?

Oddly enough, the last time I left the DR (and I travel about three times a year) they allowed me to check in online for the very first time! Unfortunately, you still need a boarding pass in hand, and my printer was out of ink.

How long before departure did they let you check in?

It's always 24 hours beforehand, so I do it the night before. Then after going through the steps to check in, the app tells me I can't. This November was the first time I checked in successfully online.

As a rule on any airline to the DR you cannot check in online. Only when you leave, so nothing new on that front. When you check in they may ask for it or maybe not. Depends on the airline. But checking in the system I doubt that would be normal at all............

I have flown 3 times since August. Along with that, I have arranged 4 family flights. Every one of them, I have been able to check in online and print boarding passes...no problem. With Air Transat, Westjet, Copa, Flair and Arajet, the online check-in was a breeze.

In the past, I could not do that.
