Ken, doesn't your "girlfriend" have family in the area that can help you navigate around while you get acclimated to the area?

Clearly sitting on the fence between "advise and affairs of the heart". Has been an issue for a few centuries and will be forever.Ken has been given a lot of advice on many topics several times. I am not sure if he is actually 'taking" the advice seriously as he asks the same questions on various threads. To sum it up for him, it is common sense, use common sense. As many have said, if it doesn't feel right/look right then it probably isn't.

thank you for your unhelpful response. Yes you are overthinking as you mentioned. I'm glad you are so erudite that you read a book every 10 days. It is obvious from your turn of phrase. Instead of reading so much it looks like you may prefer to see your own words in print.I don't think Mr. Ken has ever asked the members of this board..."Well, how did y'all do it"? He's a grown man obviously afraid and must be wondering "How am I any different than all these people giving me advise"? There is something wrong here, big time. Isn't Ken correct in thinking this can go south in a heartbeat? If I saw (as in video #30) a dude jumping off a motor with a huge machete I'm not so sure I would have any further questions. But thats just me.Now I have a short machete that I carry to the mini finca everyday...for all the reasons of working in a large garden.Very versatile tool. BUT, what does KEN see?? Every question he skirts around THE ISSUE. For example: Is leaving a bank different then leaving a cambio? Or What clothes should I wear so I don't look like an older gent with a hottie? Com'on.
Who is at fault here? He for asking or us for trying to be polite and helpful? IDK. Can we pick him up at the airport? To me...that's sad. Like saying "will you walk me around that guy with that big ole machete? You guys know your way around. In fact some of you guys live in that area."
Maybe Im overthinking this subject? I read a lot of books. One every 9-10 days. Maybe, Iv stayed with this to read the ending because I can't turn the page? I'd like to believe it has a happy ending for the lovely couple, but I might just need to write a review at the end of the story that says-Oh, we all knew the ending, no drama, no unusual twist, just the same ole same ole story. And ask for my money back,
hey, how else could it be. todo el mundo. No exceptions. The law of the land. Everyone is wired the same. StepfordWhile she waiting with her “cousin” in the car.
Sorry.
Johne can speak for himself. But, to address some of what you say:The purpose of this post was to get some feedback on the safety issues in Romana. a rather important issue in my life.
I appreciate all the good advice I have received from some.

I'm glad you know that "Mr Ken" is obviously afraid. You are very insightful in your own mind. Mr. Ken does not have the fear that you
ascribe to him. On the contrary, I am merely trying to find out what the risks are in a country that I am not familiar with.
Your advice, or shall I say lack thereof, serves no purpose to my original post.
I don't think asking if a cambio is as safe as a bank should create this ISSUE for you. Nor is it skirting around. It is a direct question.
and It is a very reasonable question to ask from someone who has not been there.
Anyhow I find your reply entertaining but of no value
Your life was opened up for the world to see from day one when you went to a public forum board asking for advise as a married man looking to hook-up to a younger woman in a foreign country. It it ALL about you and your dozens (now being repeated for the second or third time) posts to members that, for the most part, know what they are talking about and have answered your questions. Don't worry about me. I'm not your problem nor do I know the right answer to your questions. But since this is a public forum,a forum of opinions, I'll give you MY opinions, and don't give a rat's ase what you think as your opinions are worth less than the dirt off the bottom of my shoes. The purpose of this post was to get some feedback on the safety issues in Romana. a rather important issue in my life.

I appreciate your comments and information on La Romana. Always accurate and informed. When I first came to La Romana many years ago, police used to sit in that shack near the entrance to Buena Vista Norte. A police outpost more or less. What I notice most is no motos/nor conchos. Good for not having crime, not so good for those who might want to use one. Not many in that neighborhood want to use them anyway.franco1111.Buena Vista Norte now has a residents vigilante team which drive around all of Buena Vista on motor bikes. They tried to erect a security gate near the school at the entry to Buena Vista but the police would dismantled it..
I have not ignored any advice. I have gleaned the helpful advice through the obnoxious off-topic responses. I never said anything about love of my life, (a;lthough I really like the song) This is the same woman who has the other boyfriends and relatives waiting to rip me off.J
You have repeatedly ignored good advice. Either intentionally or through ignorance. Take a break. Rethink your plan. You appear to have lost your way. For what reason, who knows. Why are you not with the love of your life by now? She obviously could benefit from your devoted company given her cancer diagnosis and all. You could actually be living an excellent life in the DR by now and be doing some good.
wrong... i have been off the reservation more than onceI'm not sure ken has every step foot on DR land...
i think i am going to need to rent an auto... I'm afraid to ask if I am better to do this at PUJ or in townMaybe stay in a hotel for a couple of days while looking around for a place to stay. What one person's idea of "safe" may not be your idea of "safe". It is always better to see it for yourself.
