No, he will not return.

They understand when they are very close to die. He will most likely avoid your home from now on.

I sure hope so Rattus and I think he got the message. Anyhow, an advice for everyone: think before you shoot or hurt people when you can avoid it also for your own sake.

I disagree now, he knows about the dog and gun and what is in the home. His pride has been insulted and he could come back prepared and armed and with buddies to help. Dominicans can be prideful and stubborn people in some cases. I think an alarm with motion sensors outside and inside and sensors on all doors and windows should be installed. Also, buy pepper spray and spray him up next time so he really learns his lesson. Do not let the dog outside alone because they might poison it. They did that to my friend's Rottweiler and robbed his home days later. Take good care of your gun because someone might try to steal it now that they know you have a gun.

Vacanodr, they throw the "Poison" over the fence!
Your "Ideas" sound like they are from someone who doesn't know Dominicans, OR, the Dominican Republic very well.
Those are "First World" precautions.Dominicans only "Learn A Lesson" when you beat it into them, OR, have someone else "Teach" them.
Sad, but true!

Hello! My name is Vladimir, I came to the Dominican Republic with my wife six months ago. Last night we were attacked by Haitian(s). The robber turned off the light and the water in the house, then poured gasoline in the window of the house, and arson. Probably, the robber had hoped to lure us out of the house and attack. Luckily our house was bottled water and we were able to put out the fire for a few seconds. Assessing the situation, we did not immediately leave the house and through the windows with light inspected the surrounding area. The robber understood that we saw him, poured gasoline on the doors and windows and setting fire again. As long as we put out the fire, the robber escaped. The police arrived 30 minutes after the 911 call. This all happened in the Puerto Chiquito near Sosua.
I recommend to have at least one fire extinguisher on hand in the house.
I can offer my services to teach self-defense without weapons, and advice to the minimum security at home. Only for gringos living in the Sosua-Cabarete

We do not have a fence and gate around the house
Where do you do this training? Is it free?
at the moment I not coaching people. We moved recently and I do not know anyone, but if there is a wish we can arrange training on a regular basis. too early to talk about the price, I suggest to jointly organize courses

Man that is scary! Good for you to understand what was happening!
Heard of the fire thing before!
Hope that is the only incident you experience!!
Fortunately, or perhaps unfortunately for me, this situation is not new. I am a graduate of the police institution, trained for special purposes and operational-search activity, I have the tactical training and training in self-defense with weapons and unarmed. I will be glad if my knowledge can help save someone life

last night a robber came back. This time, he came back at 22:00, he turned off the light and started to look out the window at our reaction at this point and was seen. The police came very quickly. I can not understand what he wants. Doors and windows have closed for the grid, after the first attack we will not get out of the house without the police. What does he want?

Sorry Kroha, there is a few things I dont get...
. You're saying the robber poured gasoline through the windows and doors of your use.
That will kinda put your house on fire IMO, how could you stop the fire with bottled water?
. There is no 911 in the DR. Maybe in a few months apparently, but not yet????

Something else that I dont get, the guy apparently looked at you through the window in order to be seen??? And then?? what happened, did you just look at each other for while and then he went away????
Sorry but when I read posts I like to understand....

A dog, an alarm system with outdoor motion detectors, having weapons ready and planning ahead is all you can do. I am sorry to hear this. It is so evil what they did I hope they get caught.

All I can think is that a super loud, attention grabbing alarm system with outdoor motion detectors could helpnto prevent thisnfrom happening again.
