Playa Hotels & Resorts, the Hyatt Corporation division, announced the temporary shut down for guest stays at the Sanctuary Cap Cana, Hyatt Zilara and Hyatt Ziva in Cap Cana through Friday, 23 September 2022. The hotels are located on the southern side of Punta Cana, closest to where Hurricane Fiona entered on Monday, 19 September.
Major clean-up operations are underway after the hotels suffered damages during Hurricane Fiona on Monday, 19 September. Tourists that would have been staying at the hotels have been relocated to hotels in the partner companies of AMResorts.
