Hi,
I m going to travel to Santiago des los Caballeros at the end of January. Does anybody know what the city is like? for shopping, going out, culture, is there anything to do around the day and at night? where do people from santiago go to the beach?
would be nice, if anyone could help me with this. thx
wow what a task..lots of questions
great city
I think with out a guide as to your intrests...it is tough to list all the things to do..there are a lot
Centro Leon Jimenes...is like a cultural center...has a museum or two and other things to see. at 146 ave 27 de feberero
you have the tobacco museum on ave de Agosto ..dont know the number
you have the monument a los heroes de la restauracion...called "The Monument" for short..It is ona bunch of streets but calle de sol is one big street it is on
there is also a folk lore museum...a few blocks away from the tobacco museum
near the monument is the national theater..I know events happen there once in a while..I have always had a hard time trying to find any schedules
there are tons of bars and nightspots...
on the west side of town is like a farmers market-fleamarket style area..that encompasses a bunch of streets, and its neat to walk around there and see everything being sold out in the open...
for places to dine...you have tough choices....sooo many.....close to the monument are a few larger ones, Camp David on the outside of town...
then lots of little special ones that are great, but youd never know by driving by....need a tip for those places
they have about 3 casinos in town....and at least 2 movie theaters I think
plus a baseball stadium where one of the domincan professional teams calls home
good luck
