The name of the hotel was the DON JUAN. HELLO!?

There are nicer hotels in BC for less money. If the linens don't look the way you want them to, just ask to have them changed, or ask for another room. The reporter is a candyass, really, and the report ended before we got to anything dangerous. I'm guessing it was a (gasp!) ride on a motoconcho.

Oh brother................
And these people are supposed to be "in the know" types.
How ridiculous....
Anybody with half a brain could go on-line and get a pretty good idea what awaits them in beautiful Boca Chica.
Talk about scraping the bottom of the barrel to fill airtime.....
Shock and awe.....Not bloody likely.
Inocentes.

Slanted journalism with a spin. Guess they were desperate for a story of some kind.

Yeah a trio of drama queens. DJ is overpriced for the poor to barely passable food. I have not been approached once for Coke,
pot and pros on the beach, not in my experience over the the past 2 years...and we stay in the Sporting Club smack dab in the middle of the DJ property. (We got a deal for 2 at DJ for about 100 bucks once or twice...even at that we enjoy eating off
campus so no need to stay in this somewhat amateur version of an AI).

BC is a bit gritty and tacky place...that's the biggest danger to touristas who stick close to the beach and Duarte.

Need to get the ABC chick into the barrio car wash disco for a night, or on a tour of the cabanas off Charlie...that'll make her
head spin...."look honey that little metal door has a hand coming out of it holding condoms and toothbrushes".

What a totally silly report.

I have never made a single reservation in the DR in nine visits. I have never paid over $40 for a room.

I saw nothing in either part of this report that was scary in any way.

The hooker on the beach didn't look bad at all. And i was told they are all ugly in BC. But like they said at the end. Do your homework.
I believe this started out about Groupon and ended up making BC look bad.

I think I may have recognized the bald guy on the beach with 9 1/2 fingers negotiating with a young Hatiana.

Wow, small world!

People on the beach ? If you want to be alone on the beach, rent a secluded villa !

You're right, but where would be the sensational journalism in that? LOL

The report was for AMERICANS with zero ties to the Dominican Republic or Boca Chica, not for a bunch of people who love everything Dominican. Some of you act as if nobody can say anything about DR good or bad unless you are married to a Dominican or lived in DR since 1876 or something. You know people can have an opinion and it does not always have to equal a "spin" nobody has to eat, sleep, drink everything Dominican to find enjoyment in life.

Now for the report 99% of the report was focus on " Groupon" a company that many Americans trust and believe that a place like Boca Chica and Don Juan would never make it on their list. Chicago was the 1st city to launch Groupon and I use them for almost everything from mountain bike repairs, maid service, to pizza. The reporters never gave an opinion on anything they showed 1st hand exactly what they were seeing and allowed the audience to see the same thing.

Going from laying on the beach to a "coke" deal and ending up an a "Ho House" is something many Americans are not accustom to on a vacation at the beach. Why would Groupon have such a place on their list and not inform the customers what they are in for when they arrive.

For the room and Hotel. Really!!!! a stain on your sheets and you would ask them to just change them???? I have a buddy on the management staff at the Ritz Carlton and he has told me their is NO accuse for all hotels and motels not to be clean and sterile. " If you are not staying at a clean hotel then you are not staying at a hotel" is his favorite saying. You should see his apartment you could eat off the floor LOL. Also charging a regular room and a suite price yeah right!!!

They informed us this hotel was no longer on their website not because ABC alone, but the fact other people complained as well. I do not understand where the problem is the was a great example of "Investigating Reporting" happens all over the USA. They did not say how easy it was to pick up a hooker in Boca Chica they SHOWED you.

Lastly the USA is a consumer based economy if a company is not fulfilling their obligations by providing the best service possible then they are removed and another company will gain new customers.

It is the media that has become scary

Let's put this in perspective. Would this Boca Chica scary experience have the same sensationalism of a like visit and exposure in Las Vegas, NV ? There was a lot left out of the Boca Chica report which makes it especially vague and obtuse. It tugs at emotion rather then intellect. PJT suspects the Boca Chica report was conceived more as a cover to support the tellers visit to enjoy paradise at employer's expense.

ABC would have better served its media audience with an expos? of lax police authority over enforcing the law which allows prostitution and frowns upon pimping. The pimps and other assorted scoundrels are allowed to cruise the beach sands and accost visitors under the (intentionally ?) blind eyes of police

However, don't expect a change in media culture. The media culture is to use bells, whistles, and hype to get more viewers and higher ratings which translates into higher advertising tariffs and profit. To hell with real investigative reporting !

It is the media that has become scary.

PJT
