Hi,
My girlfriend and I are arriving DR on Jan. 17th for 2 weeks. We would like to be able to combine a couple of days in an all-inclusive resort as well as travel to more remote and less touristic areas(with nice beaches!!!). We are also very much into scuba diving and would like a place with vibrant nightlife. We are in our late twenties and prefer places that are not family oriented.
Could anyone recommend the better areas for this time of year (North coast, South Coast or both?), names of recommended all-inclusive resorts (up to 70$ per person per night) and more secluded places to travel to (if you have specific names of beaches or guesthouses\hotels, up to 20$ - 25$ ppn, that would be great help for us). As we previously noted we are also seeking good places to scuba dive.
Thanks in advance,
:glasses:

We recommend you double between Bayahibe/La Romana and Samana. Viva Wyndham has resorts in both areas and they are known for having very good dive operations:

Bahia Estela by Viva Resorts - Dominican Republic (DR1)

In Bayahibe town, near Dominicus, there are many hotels where you can stay for about US$50 a room, but you should go and check them out. From there you could go arrange for diving.

Nightlife is better in Las Terrenas, because of more young people hanging out. But I would say diving is better in Bayahibe -- ask about a boat trip to Catalinita for diving and the trip to Saona island.

There are several small hotels mentioned in our directory -- write to them for prices for the time when you want to come.
