I remember seeing a thread created by an expat I think turn Dominican citizen who had something done and was surprised that SENASA cover that.
Well, the government has extended the coverage to RD$2 million. The expasion now covers these procedures in addition to everything it covered before:
All heart surgeries including bypass.
Blood vessels surgeries.
All adult and pediatric cancers.
Extirpation of brain tumors.
Reparation of brain aneurisms.
Elimination of hematomas.
Drainage of brain abscess.
Hydrocephalus treatments.
Spine surgeries such as the removal of hernial discs, etc.
Organs transplants
Severe Burns
Chronic Kidneys Problems
Remember that any Dominican citizen that for any reason can't get private health insurance (including the elderly as they aren't given heslth insurance due to their age) or are poor qualifies for SENASA. Many of their plans are also the cheapest in the health insurance market.
The president says in the video below that one of the reasons he is pushing for things like this is his belief that the Dominican government belongs to all Dominican citizens abd as such, it needs to increase the services it offers to the citizenry.
