Not the same one but similar at plaza lama goes for $113,813 dop = $3,161 USD @ exchange rate of 36/1.

The one they have at plaza lama has a 60hz refresh rate. The one you mention from tigerdirect has a 120hz refresh rate. The model of the one at plaza lama is SONY M/KDL52S5100.

You see what Hipocrito and me are saying about shipping instead of buying down there? Doesn't make sense to pay double if Montero shipping can get it delivered to your door for 700 - 800 dollars.

OK, I am a gringo..... need to ship a few TVs (older portables) from NJ (Northern NJ, near NYC). How do I "put together a box" and save on shipping ?? And who is the best company?? Will I get stuck paying taxes?

MONTERO SHIPPING!!! I bought 2 Sony Bravia LCDs and shipped them for less than what the 42in one cost at PriceSmart in Santiago and I will do it again. Had a very good experience.

Glad to hear Montero is good; we're using them to ship our household goods down:classic:

I realize this is a two year old thread but does anyone have updated shipping costs? I just got a quote of $1,000 USD door to door from the NYC area. It is starting to not make sense to ship because you always run the risk if something goes wrong with the TV you are up the creek. Most manufacturers void the warranty if shipped outside of the USA.

It has never made sense to me. Too much risk. The savings are marginal, and the risk too high. I have done this twice, buying through Amazon as gifts, but both times the TVs were under US$200 so no taxes. Still, the shipping was around US$100 for small 20" TVs. I saved like maybe 2,000 pesos each time, but the risk was small because they were inexpensive TVs...

I'll try here.
I just shipped quite a lot (Awilda, not Montero) - they know me.

I had a tanque and seven other 'bundles' but they were a 40"TV, sound bar, coffe maker, DVD player, trimmer w/ hedge clipper accessory, etc.......... oil filters, oil...blah, blah, blah

It was $750 total..... I complained , being the frequent shipper that I am, and he explained that the elctronics attract attention - hence the extra. (I got him down from $800 - big deal!!)
I'm sorry that I cannot apply the propina piece by piece.

I asked about shipping an ATV... he almost fell off his chair.... just rubbed two fingers together and shook his head "no".

Some things aren't worth it.

That shipment should ahve been the Tanque +/- $125 and the other stuf at ~$40 x 7 = $280, so I guess I paid about $350 in 'extras', between all those items.
I still think its worth it.... that TV is LED - good for my solar, way less energy, like about 40% of normal

My shipment arrived.... they opened everything including the boxed TV in the original package.

Its all here but I don't recall that before - a full inspection.
That TV was $650 @ Best Buy - no idea of the RD cost
Yamaha101 Sound bar was $250.

Just in case anybody's pricing things.

It should work for you.... look at my example and mine was unaccompanied.
Standing there you might get $0 on the way in - or pay a bit.

Def, worth a try

At PriceSmart a Philips 40" LED TV is $55,000RD or a ridiculous $US 1,403 for something you paid $US650 plus $US750 in shipping for the tank, the TV and 7 other bundles.

Essentially all of your shipping was for free compared to buying just an LED TV locally. In addition you saved on buying all those other items versus getting then locally.

right Windy,
plus the sound bar, the Blu-Ray player, el trimmer con attachments.

I bitched at the time but I drove thru the NYC traffic, I sort of added it up.... not really bad.

Thanks for the encouragement.... that might be worth some maple syrup.... not the store bought kind either like Aunt Jemima.:rambo:

William,

Looking to get some scratch & dent appliances from Sears. I recollect you do this, or used to do this as well.

How is the exact way to go about it?

Peter, I think you really need to be in the store, but they have a website - and a special location where they accumulate the 'damaged' goods.
My discounts are very good.... sometimes the scratches/dents are on the side or very low on the item.

Here's another site... Locations
And Sears.... Sears Outlet: Discount appliances, refrigerators, dishwashers, laundry equipment, lawn tractors

Line up a mudanza, ship to the mudanza for door to door

Thanks, William... saved for near future use...

Thanks for the "Like", BK

A dirty secret here is that if you have enough "likes", banning risk reduces....
