Shipping Boxes to DR

I have used Montero shipping twice with no problems. The have an office in Hyattsville MD and in the Bronx. I shipped from both of them. They drove out to my office once in Northern Virginia, another time they drove to my parents house on Long Island.

Hyattsville is great news. I have a brother there so he could easily ship things down to me if I move down again.

What are the dimensions of the boxes? I looked a bit online, but kept hitting dead ends.

This is who I used last May to ship things. I was very pleased and will use them again.
Shipped 2 wardrobe boxes and 1 dish pack for a total of $700(250 + 250+200) Obviously I won?t ship another dish pack. Found them by calling a local church with an Hispanic ministry; they put me in touch with a Dominican member who uses this company. This man gets a ?discount? because he is a frequent shipper. Maybe some day I?ll qualify too. I bought the boxes from my new Dominican friend for cost ? he keeps them on hand from Obdulio. You can get them from any moving company.

What I learned about packing the boxes? Since weight is not an issue, I wrapped the more ?fragile? items in clothing and fabric I was shipping. I had neatly packed small/tiny items in boxes but my new friend opened the boxes and dumped the contents in on top of other stuff then shook the box to settle the contents! Freaked me out but the only damage I had was a couple of cake pans with dents. Included in these boxes were a dozen half-gallon canning jars ? not one broke!!
I didn?t have to fill out any paperwork ? just provided an address & phone number. The receipt says ?2 cajas de ropa grande, 1 caja de ropa 5/6?
Boxes were delivered in TWO WEEKS; they even brought them down a flight of stairs to my apartment. (Cabrera, North coast)

Info I saved from an earlier posting ? Didn?t use them because getting my things to them from Fredericksburg would likely cost more than the shipping to the DR!
HB is correct. If you can get the items to Silver Spring, MD (and I take my boxes from Manassas) then I have the only company to use: Oligil Fashions, 8549 Piney Branch Rd., Silver Spring, MD 20901. (301) 565-2935. I buy U-Haul Shorty Wardrobe Boxes and my only 'paperwork' has been a list of the items in the boxes. Oligil takes care of everything else. I've been using Oligil for years without incident to Santiago.

Afterthought - Olgil will take Rubbermaid-type containers. Found the best price for HD Rubbermaid brand at Walmart online - 6 for $$$ (forget amt but it was the best I'd seen)
This is a way to go if you want tight containers to store things in the DR. Consider that the price here will be at least triple what you pay in the US

I had 14 boxes delivered this week... 3 weeks door to door

Pricing depends on the item... try shipping a stereo or a TV and the price changes.
Fridges and stoves, etc have standard prices.

Agree w/ Windy, I always prefer to buy and ship vs buy here.
The IKEA footstool is a perfect example.

Absolutely true, and it's not only the savings in price, the quality of most products is better than what we can buy in DR. Not to mention the selection.

Im in CT, Who did you use to ship the 55 Gall barrells for $100 in NY. I would appreciate their contact info. even if it costs me more. Last year I paid about $250 I need to ship some at the end of this month.

I used Awilda.... all my Mass. friends use them too. They drive the boxes to Corona.

All the mudanzas mentioned here have NYC offices, and all are good and similarly priced - as I see it.
