Latino, please keep us informed on these new developments from delta (song). I would be very much intertested in seeing a direct service from atl to anywhere in DR, especially sti.
I was at ATL recently and what an airport, they are building another huge runway to accomodate more traffic. Delta is still coming on strong and keep very well maintained planes with 1st class customer service. I have not flown in song yet but I am sure if it comes with Delta's name then it must be good and will out perfom the competition (airtran).
Please keep me informed by PM if you don't care to post the latest updates on the threads.
Sam, you always give a new hope to dying visions.

the question is, do we need DL in here??????????????????????????? Is there any chance for them, or they will do the same as AA flying SDQ FLL, like DL will fly to ATL, what for? DL shoulod make money, the era when airlines used to fly just to be presented at the market is over.

Thumbs up for DL.

I personally know of a nice sized dominican community in atlanta area. They hold their regular parties and meetings throughout the year. They are very well organized and often bring in music bands from DR to perform there. The organization came into full swing during the 1996 summer atlanta olympic games. The organization invited the whole olympic athletes to a party and discusses streghtening their future dominican role in atlanta region. That was in 1996, now I expect to see a huge increase in the number of dominicans living in the atlanta (nearby) region.
About, why we need DL in DR?
Who would have thought DL's atlanta- costa rica route would be profitable? DL ended up adding another location in costa rica in addition to regular flights to san jose.
DL has been making consistant progress in its south american, central american and caribbean routes. Buenos Aires flight will or have resumed to normal schedule. ATL-SDQ / PUJ will be a huge success for DL and many people will be very excited to see this happen (including myself).
Regards,
AZB (huge fan of DL)

let's wait, by the way, I don't think there is such a huge community in GA, are there enough dominicans to fill at least 75% of DL-s 757 on daily basis?

Spaking of HUBs, MIA is the perfect hub for DR. And DL dosn't provide that kind of service they could've get the market at once.

Dominican travllers originated here don't have enough money to fly that much at this moment.

What DL should do is explore PUJ, there they will have their market for US travellers.

how about people flying out

of Minnesota, Texas, Chicago, Los Angeles etc? Do you think that everyone that flies out of Atlanta to Latin America & the Caribbean lives in Atlanta? All of the above and many more have to change planes in either Miami or New York.
Atlanta is a major international gateway. Passengers would have options.
If Song were to offer nonstop service out of Atlanta it would be servicing customers throughout the USA not just local Atlantans.
Think nationally here. Not everyone lives in NYC or MIA.
