Coming back to Sosua next week. So, what are the recommendations for places to eat. Also, if you list a restaurant please indicate if there is a particular entree that is most appealing. I'm trying to get a few good meals in my time. Food taste is most important rather than ambiance or cost.

Also, where is the best place to get seafood in Sosua?

...head west via sosua beach which leads into Charamicos. If you like basketball to
play or see, there's a great court there that is always full in the afternoon with
pick up games. Next to the court is Carib Exchange which I've found the best rate in
Sosua . Also if you want some great fried chicken and fries, or plantenos (sp?), the
hill on the left side leading out of Charamicoes next to Carib Tour Bus Station
(traffic light) is fantastic, and at 125 pesos a plate you get a great size meal.
Just don't hand out change or gum to the many kids on the street unless you want to
be there all day doing just that. It's best to find a mother or two sitting with
their children and hand something out to them, they are really genuine in their
appreciation. There's two or three great local hang outs at the end of the main
street for a presidente or two. I've found sitting and drinking there with the
locals is better then walking around the area with one in my hand. Then again it's
not very hard to mix it up there, have fun!

First of all, often times here you are paying for a view. The restaurants that have
a view seem to drop the ball on food. Sometimes they are great. Other times, you pay
much and feel shorted in the end. I mentioned this in the thread.

Having lived here a few years, I learned that the best restaurants are not
oceanfront. This may be a disappointment if you are a tourist and want a fine
restaurant with an ocean view. Sorry, but that is the fact of life here.

Now, I HAVE had wonderful meals at the high end restaurants that are oceanfront.
But, I have more often been stiffed.

So, having said that, and not knowing you or what you like, this is what I know.

Sosua
-----
La Costera on Pedro Clisante – The chef, and I believe owner, was the personal chef
for a former president of Germany. He has an extensive menu. The plates are always
beautifully presented. We have never had a bad meal there. A bottle of wine and two
full meals will cost U.S. $50 or so. The chef will give you personal service. Go to
the restroom and look at the size kitchen this man works in. My bathroom is bigger.

The Restaurant at Las Canas – up La Mulatta Road. Is newly managed. It is wonderful.
The lasagne is the best I have ever had, but anything on the menu is good. It is
inside a big condo complex. The atmosphere is nice. The prices are in line with La
Costera.

Orchidee – In Sosua, the road with the stoplight, runs perpendicular to Perdro
Clisante. This restaurant is on the right, second block. Go back inside the parking
area. Upstairs, up a spiral staircase. Nice atmosphere. The chef gives good,
personal service. The wait staff is also good. And food is good. Prices are in line
with La Costera.

Britannia – We go there when we have guests for happy hour. I have never eaten
there, but I have friends here who always go and eat their daily specials, which
they say are good and priced right. I don’t personally know, but I do know that one
night something was served at the next table. It smelled so good, I wanted to cancel
our dinner plans and eat there. It was shephard’s pie.

Rocky’s – Rocky’s has great breakfasts. The best I have had here in the DR. Service
is good. If you go for dinner, the food is also good and consistent. The thing is
you need to order your food prior to your drinks, as the service can be very slow.
The food is always good, though. The atmosphere is basic. The prices are right.

Balogna- This resturant got a bad rap on DR1 recently. Apparently, someone didn’t
get the pizza he thought he ordered. He made a bit of a scene. They made him a
different pizza and burned the crust. Having said that, I believe this restaurant is
quite good. The pasta in white cream sauce with walnuts is exceptional. My friends
love the Bolognese. Also, the grilled vegetable calzone is very, very good. Prices
are a bit higher than the previously mentioned restaurants, but certainly not as
high as the high end restaurants.

Cabarete
--------
A Bailler – a newer restaurant on the main street on the left going into town,
across from mini golf. Go upstairs. It is wonderful. A bit
sophisticated and a bit basic. Nice, interesting artwork. The food is good, really
good. The price is in line with La Costera.

Pomodoro’s – on the beach makes a wonderful salad pizza. It is an artisan crusts,
freshly made and hot, spread with a thin layer of sauce. On top is cold, fresh
arugala (or basil, if you order that one), onions, capers and tomatoes. They serve
it with a bottle of olive oil in with hot peppers are marinating. This pizza, while
non-traditional, is the best.

Those are probably the best, smaller secrets of the area.

Another note. I don’t know what nationality you are. I am from the U.S. In the U.S.,
we expect restaurants to be able to make any kind of cocktail we want. These
restaurants are not that flexible. Expect beer, wine, and rum drinks. My husband
likes martini’s up. It took him awhile before he figured out that many restaurants
here have no idea what a martini up is, let alone make one. So- if you drink
alcohol, be aware that you might have to keep it simple.

An answer within 2 minutes! Thanks

I did not use the motoconcho guys probably because I like my skin to stay on my body.

Is the German restaurant (or Max Car Wash) on the Highway? If not, what street is it on?

Maybe this map will be of some use, too.

The quoted text, above, came from this thread.
(Is Charamicos safe for a gringo to walk around alone?)
