Sosua/Cabarete - Current Weather

weather reports are saying rainy and cloud every day for the last month, im going to DR on TUESDAY for 16 nights..... staying between Cabarete and Sousa... what is the weather like there at the mo???? tanning weather!!?? :cheeky::cheeky:

Stop looking at the weather reports! They can never seem to get it right. They almost always say it's going to rain everyday! So just come down and enjoy your vacation....and of course, wear sunscreen!

Today is a beautiful morning - 26C/79F already and from where I sit, I can see no clouds....just blue sky, and barely a breeze.....

If anyone has a great view of Sosua and the surrounding area it's Luv. She can see it all from her look out.

Everything looks good from up there.

It's a beautiful 29C/84F in Sosua with a nice breeze and a clear sky. Ocean looked rather calm this morning, and we are hoping to get to the beach this afternoon. I'll post some pictures later!

Well, I checked the temp. before we went to the beach and it was 31C/88F! Not sure what time that was at...but does it really matter?? It was a BEAUTIFUL day in Sosua! Not many clouds and a pretty good breeze (thankfully!)

Rain! Today seemed to start out nice, but then it just kept getting darker and darker. Currently 26C/79F with barely a breath of wind.....and rain!

Still pretty...but it sure put a stop to my plans of painting the house today! Oh well...guess I'll have to have a nap instead! :cheeky:

...and the rain continues to fall! We had a rather heavy down pour last night....and are in the middle of another right now. The sky is getting lighter....so with any luck, this afternoon will be nice!

Currently 22C/72F, a little bit of a breeze, and rain.

Breezy, cloudy, gloomy, chilly....and rain, oh my! It POURED pretty much the whole night and it's still off & on raining. Generally just a crappy day! :bored:

It is raining in Cabarete. Anyone know what is happening right now and what the forcast is for Sosua? Should we head out to the Sosua beach or stay here and hope it clears.

Right now in Sosua, the sun is shining.....but it does look rather cloudy out there! I felt a few raindrops on the way back from the laundry room.....and now it's kind of "misting"...but the sun is still shining.

Plenty of places to get out of the rain at Sosua Beach....but if you are in the water already....getting wet shouldn't be an issue! :cheeky:

We're coming on 10th of May to Sosua, a month ago we took the risk and booked a vacation in May despite knowing that DR has the most rainy days in a year in May. Now looking at any forecast, like this one:

6 to 10 Day Extended Weather Forecast for Sosua -weather.com

They all show rain/clouds/thunderstorms for the week after 10th.

We're depressed even before we got there. We were hoping to run away from the rains here in Europe and enjoy your sunny tropical island.

Give us some hope for the sun next week, please!

Well...the first thing I can tell you is to STOP looking at the weather forecasts for here! I think I have only seen one weather site that actually used the "all sunny" icon for a day instead of the "sun, clouds, rain & lightning bolts"!! I'm convinced they use that one because they can say that the forecast WAS accurate...no matter what it does!:ermm: Also....the last time we heard thunder was sometime last summer!!

This morning was cloudy and we had a little bit of rain. Now (about 1 hour later), the sun is shining, and the clouds have moved on and it is 26C/79F. That's not to say we won't get rain again today...but for the most part, it lasts only a little while then the sun returns!

Relax....stop stressing.....just come and enjoy your vacation! I can guarantee that even if it does rain while you are here...it'll be warmer than if you were home in the rain! :cheeky:

O.K. Luv, I just gotta say this because it is way to funny... You know how anytime we say the "B" word, it ruins our plans? Well in your latest post you mention something about not hearing "T" since sometime last summer... Bummer how that happens, you should not be allowed to speak any of these words...

Similar, I'm sure....but it can be pouring in Sosua and sunny in Cabarete (or even sunny across town!) That's why it's so hard to "know" what the weather will be like!
