if you do that, not only would you lose your laptops, but your money as well!!, just come to terms that you've lost your lap - tops file a police report with the serial numbers of the computers (if you have this that is) just in case they pawn the stuff or just start saving up to buy new one's. you should know better in D.R. you can't be caught sleeping your valuable's are valuable's take this as a learning experience be very cautious, or it will happen again..see ya irate:gerd said:We had a burglar last night and among other things two laptops stolen.
Any idea how they can be recovered?
Should I offer money to the police right away?
We'd surely pay more to get them back, than they would be worth in any compra venta.
Please help!
gerd said:Without this device, they can probably sell them for US$50-100 here.

A.J. said:Lets see finding lap tops that were stolen - chances are uhmmm nil. Hate to break your heart, but our house was broken into and the only thing we had a of value stolen was the lap top. It would not had been stolen had we had it in the attached apartment like usual.
The good thing was that our homeowner's insurance covered it and we were able to get a new one with the insurance money - and it covered the whole price. And we got the check within 2 weeks - yes people I said 2 weeks no haggling no phone calls - beat any insurance agency I have in the states waiting 2 - 3 months for a check.
Burglary, hurricanes, earthquakes, civil unrest all good reasons to get homeowners insurance if you have anything of value.

All they took with them was the lap top some clothes and some cash. They tried to steal the car but my 86 toyota corolla "baby blue" did not want to work for them so they just got away with what they could carry.
I have had friends in santiago, puerto plata and costambar who even with a security system they have been broken into and have had alot more stolen.
The one positive thing I have to say about being robbed in the D.R. is that all they did was steal property and eat all the lasagna, unlike in the US where being robbed meant stealing what they could breakng the rest and defecating all over.
