Are you sure it wasn't the fashion police that stopped you for wearing a green hat,I mean come on who wears green hats in the Carribean. It's just not right;)
Stay in florida where they have no gang violence or daily shooting and apparently no fashion police:pirate:

Apartment was just down the street from the clinic on Pedro clisante, on the left hand side of the street, and I'm from florida.
Gee starstar.
Are you avoiding telling us the name of the apartment?
I mean, being your first trip and all, you must have found it on the internet and it must have a website, and you need not go back through your posts to double check if you mentioned that it was your first trip, as you didn't, but clearly, if Sosua was as bad as you say, you would have never made a second trip, would you.
Taliing about first trips, how is it that you already have Dominican friends?
Did you just meet them?
Do you speak Spanish?
Are you getting the feeling that you're getting grilled?
Yup, you are, and we'll continue to grill you, as we know that you're feeding us BS.

I have been there a few times (Sosua). I would say that Boca Chica looks a lot more intimidating than Sosua. I have been to Boca Chica plenty of times with no problems.;)

Sosua was definitely more relaxing than BC.

Yeah I thought Boca Chica was probably more so - but I was with a big group of Dominicans (all hubby's family). Saying that it was Semana Santa so it would have probably seemed it anyway. But I still thought it was a great place - and the beach was very relaxing. I can't see Sosua as intimidating - if my 14 year old daughter didn't think so then I'm sure any adult would be more than fine.

Thanks for the offer, but I have no interest in wasting any of my precious vacation time in such a crappy place. I don't think I'll ever change my mind about Sosewer. I'm sure there are plenty of people out there who, for what ever reason, like it there, but I can only report my experience. Which was not good. I could have dealt with the persistant hookers (giggeling themselves infront of me saying "wanna get freaky?") and the street sellers, and all that, but it was the police that were the worst. I can only imagine what would have happened to me if I didn't speak spanish and dealt with the situation I was presented with. I could have ended up in jail paying a huge "fine" like the other american I talked to.
After an experience like that, why would I go back?

the police dont bother you if you dont speak spanish they cant be bothered explaining.....shoeshine boys are all very polite and dont pester they just ask and move on like mot people selling things.I bet if you actually wanted your shoes shined you would not be able to find one.
I find the ladies of the night are also polite on the whole and seem to enjoy their work.

Im wondering how you made Dominican freinds in one short holiday

Well, let me put the hurt on you.
Here's the truth about you.
You're a sock.
You have an axe to grind, and you're full of shyte.
You hurtin' yet?
I wouldn't want to make you cry all over your keyboard.
If you think for one second that anyone believes you, then you're even dumber than you appear.

why did you quote my last post to ask that question? to answer you, male.

I think somebody's had very boring day today and fancied stirring things up a little - every forum gets on every now and then. Enjoy the rest of your day starstar, I'm not going to waste anymore of my afternoon on this. Everybody here that knows and loves Sosua knows that this is more thank likely total BS. Surely you have something more interesting to do than talk total crap for no reason??

But I will just say one last thing - I don't own anything in Sosua - I wish I did but unfortunately not, maybe one day! I am only sticking up for Sosua because I know what a great place it is from being there on holiday and nothing more!

are you seriously saying that police harrassment doesn't happen? If you are, than you're living in a sewer dreamworld. I met my dominican friends my first week there, and we hung out the whole time. They told me that this type of thing happens all the time. ESPECIALLY when it's getting closer and closer to christmas. The closer to christmas the worse it gets. So if the locals know all about it, then I believe them. They told me I was lucky that they didn't plant drugs on me! Apparently, that happens all the time! It makes the police more money when the scare people into paying more money to get out of a (fictional) bad situation. What a corrupt bunch of officials!

What made you choose Sosua in the first place? So, for the entire month, you were unhappy? Why didn't you leave and go east to give Cabarete a try? I don't know your age but my gut feeling is you would have liked the atmosphere in Cabarete.

You must remember, you are going to get a lot of flack here within the DR1 site, especially from those who either reside in Sosua, have a business in Sosua and don't want to read negativity, or just people who love it for their own reasons.

There are definitely many hookers in Sosua and they can be aggressive too. We all know, this is one of the reasons that certain tourists flock there. Denying this, is like burying your head in the sand.

Having a vacation home in Cabarete, I would rather hear many comments from many posters, who share the good bad & the ugly, so I can form my own conclusions.

Too bad you had such a rotten time, Sosua has some neat spots to see.

How long do you think you can avoid the question about which apartment complex you stayed in?
Just because you're cerebrally challenged, doesn't mean others are too.
Answer the questions or stop complaining.

And since you're all saying that it didn't happen....why would I make something like that up? I just think that it's only fair to shed some truthful light on So-sewer, so people reading this know that it's not all roses in this terrible little town! If any of you live there, then you KNOW that this happens, and it certainly isn't the first you've heard of it.

Sure we've heard this type of crap before, from other socks like you.
So where was it you were staying?
What was the name of the building?

what does the apartment have to do with this? The only good thing about Sosua was the apartment I lived in. The people who rented to me were very nice. I don't want to complain about them.
And speaking of avoiding things....why don't you acknowledge that police corruption is an issue, and there is NO WAY that you don't know about it!

Police harrassment and general town crappyness is what we're talking about here, not where I lived.
