I do translate when I have time. Sometimes I read them in Spanish and translate in my head. I do not speak or read Spanish perfectly so I miss some important details.
Also I do not always have time. I am not on DR1 as many hours as some people either.
I do appreciate the news being shared and will continue reading them as best as I can with my skills.

thanks, your opinion is much appreciated. i often forget that other people may not have the skill or time to go through news. my spanish is not super great. not to mention lack of skill of so many journalists here. i make real effort to read and understand. there are times when i need to read something few times or in moments of desperation i ask miespsoso :)

I've been thinking that if we put the different English-to-Spanish translations together, we'll end up with... (ready for this? Drum roll, please)...

...translaciones unidas.

So I gather from what you wrote here, your answer to my question is NO?

Well Informed or Less Informed

When you post local news in Spanish can you also translate it too? Just to help the learners

I am certain she could.
But that is too much to ask for. :tired:

Anybody can use an online programme which produces a sufficient translation to get the gist of the text.
However, to correct the shortcomings of such a programme takes much time and a translator's skill and perfect knowledge of both languages.

I usually post the link to the original text and a summary in a few sentences.
People who want to have the full information, will have to do some homework.

Others (who admit that they are too lazy to do the translating themselves) will die less informed... it has always been like that.... everywhere.

If someone posts a piece of news, even if the article is in Spanish, they're usually giving you an overall idea what happened, and a link to whatever site it came from. If it interests you enough to find further details, then why not translate it yourself? You know you have that option anyway. I don't understand all the whining about this!
