Taking Electronics Equipment to dr?

I have a question I'm traveling to santiago in two weeks I'm dominican and I heard so many versions on taking electronics equipment to dr...Do any one knows if you have to pay tax for electronics(DVD player, Mini Shelf system) that you take in your bags...and if yes how much do you have to pay...

Sorry to say, it DOES NOT always work out that way, if you have a large flat screen and get searched expect to pay the piper if they catch you.
