CG, Thanks for Info..Gracias!Property taxes have been in existence for years, private ownership or company owned are both subject to the tax, (whether people pay them or not is another story). It's called IPI (Impuesto al Patrimonio Inmobiliario), privately owned property tax is calculated on the province you live in, size of land/lot and SQ M2 of construction. I believe that somehow company owned properties are calculated based on revenue and a percentage is paid.
The tax is paid yearly in two quotas, March & again in September, deadline is the 11th of each month.
On a bright note, if you're over 65 yrs of age and personally own your property you are exempt from this..
It's on properties valued over 5 million pesos, which probably covers anything that a gringo would own. What's up with these Tax Proposals that are currently going on..will the government start collecting yearly property taxes?

The new proposal quotes 5 million as the future threshold. Currently your property needs to have an assessed value of over 9 million + pesos. Some 150,000 dollars. It's on properties valued over 5 million pesos, which probably covers anything that a gringo would own.
does that include property or only buildings? The new proposal quotes 5 million as the future threshold. Currently your property needs to have an assessed value of over 9 million + pesos. Some 150,000 dollars.
