Hi
I will be traveling with a legal 12 month temporty German passport into the dominican Republic and a green card from the USA. Can anyone tell me if the custom/airport official(?) will be ok with that?
The German consulate told me that in most countries this is not a problem but a few countriesdo not except temporary passport and to find out if the Dominican Republic does. So I need to know or atleast where to find out if there do.
Thanks for anyone who can answer this for sure.
PS. My Passport was about to exspire. I applied to late to get it before my flight and I will be getting an temporary one for now til my new passport will arive (after the trip)

Migration law states that the passport MUST have at least 6 monthes of validity remaining upon your entrance into the country.

Although, I have not heard of a temporary passport, you hope your imigration reveiw officer has.......

Are you talking about the old "Greenback"? If so, yes, they accept it here in DR as long as it is valid for at least 6 more months.

I first traveled to the DR with a one-year temporary US passport.

When I received my regular 10-year passport, they did not give me a new one. They stamped the new date of expiration on the back of the original, and it causes problems every time I travel because on the front page the passport is marked as expired because it still has the original one-year date of expiration.

I always have to point out the new date on the back, and customs officials always look at it as if they've never seen anything like it before.

Been there done exactly the same, 1 year passport, as it was issued under special circumstances, later renewed for 10 years, ya ya always having to refer who ever was checking it, go to the last page!!! but I would never called it temporary, as temporary is neither 1 year nor 10 for a total of 11, temporary I would clasifiy as 30, 60 maybe 90 days most, usually only for return to ones home country.

you know what is annoying? here in DR a VIP passport takes 24hrs to get. and in our so called civilized countries one has to wait for weeks. in poland it is about 3 months. wtf? how long can it take to print a bloody passport? if they can give you a temporary one within days they should be able to do the same with a normal passport, no?
getting a cedula in SD? 25 minutes. getting a polish ID? 3 hours just to apply and then about two months wait. something's not right.
