Bob is not running the show. He is only doing the accounting. It is my impression that Bob is a very talented guy, who has a limited role in the day-to-day decision-making process at Terra Linda.

It is my understanding that he manages the books and pays the bills, but, to my knowledge, his input is seldom sought and rarely listened to. And that is too bad, because he could add much to that business, with his knowledge and expertise.

Like most businesses, the decisions made with regard to running of Terra Linda are made by the owners, and unfortunately they are not always their own best counsel.

I am shocked. This thread is on the 2nd page and NOBODY has asked if Terra Linda is guest friendly. So let me ask. How guest friendly is this place???????

Thanks.

not very romantic for a "toda la noche" if the room leaks and no hot water for my guest. :ermm:

let's get some truth to what is really going on at the hotel before we ask about "guest friendly".....

They should simply make all the rooms $55 and stop the confusion, but I don't think that is going to happen. They'd fill up for all of tourist season no problem and make a lot more money. But it sounds like the price is Dominican. You can haggle up front, but if you don't get the price set before you move in, you're screwed. The posters who paid $55 seemed happy and those who paid more felt cheated. Being right across the road from New Garden and Orchidae it seems unlikely that people won't price compare.

Thanks Catcher, he did not mention anything about the place in November so when i was misinformed last night that he was running the show i was surprised to see the conflicting posts here. Bob is a stand-up guy and did a great job at keeping the prices down at the WaterFront in the old days. I miss the breakfast there!!!!!!!!!!!!

Back to TL. As for price, anyone is entitled to ask whatever price for a product or service they want. Supply and demand will tell if they get it. ( Any puta jokes Tambo? ). Wish they could put ths Santiago Marriot smack dab in the middle of Sosua. I would gladly pay the grand a week for a quality place. When people ask me about the accomadations in Sosua i tell them Motel 8 with palm trees and water in the pool.

late reply about $55 rate

Apologies for the late reply ... I posted to the thread and didn't look at it again until today.

I stayed at Terra Linda in mid-January; my friend was given the same $55 rate just 3 weeks ago.

Bahiadreamer, when did you stay there at $55 per night? I am intending staying seven nights, and they are quoting me $65

I stayed at Terra Linda recently and mostly have good things to say. A large clean room, plenty of hot water, nice towels. TV reception was very poor though. I was charged $55 per night for February 22 an 23, and $60 for my return on March 6.

I saw lots of guys coming and going with chicas so I assume that the place is chica friendly.

Breakfast was included and there was a decent selection of food. It was raining mostly and the place seemed to be very quiet with not much of a fun atmosphere.

I certainly plan to book there on my next trip if I am offered similar prices.

Noticed the website quotes rooms for single occupancy. I believe the old manager is from the Water Front. Is Bob W. running the show at Terra Linda?

If so, Bob, if you are reading this 3 hotels within a chip shot away offer the same accomidations with breakfast for $50-$55 a night with a 7 night or longer stay. Also the website says the beach is 100 yards away and i know for a fact that i would need a Big Bertha and a 6 iron to get to the parking lot which does not offer beach access. Is there a deal with the Water Front to offer beach access for your patrons?

This place looks great but seems they are trolling for newbies coming to Sosua when my experience says cateering to repeat customers makes or breaks. If i have never been to Sosua and i got roped into paying 80 bucks a night with the expectation of Playa Sosua being 100 yards away i would be pi$$ed. That area is saturated with hotel rooms so i hope TL can adapt.

El Tibby, shoot me a PM with the low down on TL and if SeaBreezes still has good deal for over a 7 day stay, Thanks.

My friend and I stayed there last week for 3 nights @ $65 a night. I honestly have nothing but good things to say about the place - and in comparison to the area (having stayed in other places myself) I don't think it compares. Everything in Sosua is rundown and old. This place is brand spanking new and clean. I would stay again for $65 and even thought that to be a good price given the rooms and surroundings. :cheeky:

I have 4 friends staying there right now (whom I recommended). They are loving it too and the restaurant.

Back home after a seven day stay at Terra Linda. Everything went well, and the place is very good - clean rooms, nice pool, good staff and excellent restuarant. Another plus for me was it was only 10% occupied, so nice and quiet.
Only drawback is if you have a room close to the restuarant, the taped music is played constantly in the evening, and they only have a small selection of tapes. 'Stir it up' and the the remix of Bob Marley began to get abit weary every two hours, every day
I will be back (and request a room in building 'B')

Could be worse. I was in a situation like that once and the only album they were playing was Belinda Carlisle for two days. "ooh baby, Do you know what that's worth? ooh heaven is a place on earth..." Got me out of there pretty quick.

One reason I used to go to NY Shark Bar was the satellite radio. Sounds like it might be something the hotel could check out.

just a follow up on terra linda... i had cut down the place a few months ago,(read the begining of this thread) as of just recently, the place has made a 180 degree turn around.... service has improved drasticly, the resturant is being run great, a new manager has been helpin willie get this place in shape, ive had friends stay there last week and they had nothing but great reviews...im very happy to take back my bad comments and happy to recommend this place as one of the top choices to stay when visiting sosua, chica friendly, resturant food is very good, little expensive but worth it, service has picked up, no more waiting 15 min for a sweaty presidente, room service, hot water, and tip the girls for extra towels... good job to who ever is running that place now.... 60 bucks a night w breakfast makes it the best option.....new garden, ur days r numbered...seabreeze or el gaucho for 40 bucks or terra linda for 60 bucks.... good luck!!

That's nothing...as long as we are making comparisons here....try staying at Casa Cayena where some of the waitresses (read Ana Maria) and one of the front desk girls (the big one) think they are DJs at a night club and insist on blasting REGGAETON (not mellow reggae, mind you, but REGGAETON...that obscene Puerto Rican import posing as music) pretty much constantly......starting bright and early for the breakfast service, just to get you going.....they must have an 11 setting on the volume control knob, because you can not escape it if you are anywhere on the property. Oh, and that 3 o'clock nap you were hoping to catch in your room, or by the pool, forget it.....YOU MUST LISTEN TO THEIR REGGAETON BECAUSE THEY INSIST !

casa cayena is a **** hole.. the rooms have aspestos, the new owner is never there and the inmates run the prison, worst is the new mgt alina... she is all about stealing money...without an upgrade, she raised the room rates from 50 bucks to 68 dollars a night...huh...that cuz her salary is based on anything over 40 bucks a night....so i guess she needed a raise for the great job she doin.... i know this place very well, almost bought it...since then, biz has dropped off at least 20%...and no one cares... cant wait for this place to go up for sale.....

This makes sense since on two occasions, La Jefa Alina AKA "Pebbles", magically changed the reservation I made for a group of clients from $55 to $70!

Casa Cayena has been on a major downtick the past year. It was a nice little hotel when Boris owned it.

boris bought it, built it up, and dumped it at a ridiculously high price...1.3m good for him... it helped that the loney (canadian curency) was trading at overvalu levels....if not for this over zelous canadian bidding 500k over my bid, that hotel would b the hottest place in town!! tambo n danely would b VIP'S..lol one more thing about casa cayena, there is thief in the workforce... ever since they took it over, there has been many robberies directly from the safe's..i wonder who got a copy of the master safe key?????

Interesting comments El Tibby - I was looking at Casa Cayena investment packages (sort of time share concept), and was thinking of staying there next time in town to get a feel for the place, and possible buy in - by what you are saying, I should maybe tread carefully

WHY? There are so many cheap hotel choices in Sosua bayman, why would you want to invest your money in a time share at Casas Cayena?

Dont tread carefully, Dont tread at all...

I am interested in seeing a brief description of the time-share-ish "product", out of curiosity. I have noticed a tri-fold one page flier laying haphazardly around the front desk area, but never heard anything about what was on offer there, not from management, staff, or guests.
