Big money wanting the area. That's about it.

And Doms not wanting their kids having to walk by drunks sleeping on the sidewalk, spandex hookers wobbling home and loud mouth foreigners bragging about their last bj....on their way to school on Pedro Clisante.

It was the perfect storm, both entities wanting the exact same thing.

And what's wrong with capitalism? You make it sound like a dirty thing?

Nothing wrong with it capitalism all but that is not what this is. I am just amazed at how many here seem to think it is about anything but money. It has absolutely nothing to do with "Doms not wanting their kids having to walk by drunks sleeping on the sidewalk, spandex hookers wobbling home and loud mouth foreigners bragging about their last bj....on their way to school on Pedro Clisante." Those are the reasons they are giving (yes, it is convenient) but this is about lined pockets of the right people. Nothing more, nothing less. They are not honest about the gifts and bribes as this may come off as unseemly.

Plus the elections are coming and PLD is falling apart, nobody knows if they'll have jobs after the elections, let's grab as much as we can while we can.

who are those losers?

I've not a clue. Its not about who they are, its about the
conduct of the tourist as well as the negative image of
Sosua they are promoting by posting videos like that on
the internet. Call it bad publicity at the wrong time.

The way I see it, from the outside ------- as I will probably never set foot in sosua ------ , is a bunch of people who set up shop in a whore town and now want to get rid of the whores !!!!!!!
Wishful thinking, if you ask me !

IF, and it is a big, big if, the powers to be wanted to rid sosua of it's filthy reputation, they would go after the mongers and not the whores. Local economy dictates that if there is demand, there will be product.

But perhaps there is a real plan for sosua to transform it into a " normal" touristy destination......... that would only take about a decade........ make that 2 decades in the dr....... and 3 on the north coast lol.....

That grand plan will fly just about as far as a gazillion other dominican plans......ie revista, helmets, drinkable water, digital government, etc........

You forgot a cashless economy. Remember?

Yes, but same guy that took that video is putting up interview with mayor at her house; said it will be up tomorrow.
This guy Miko is smooth talker... not the rest of them.
Miko is also doing feed the kids of Sosua.

Just as long as it keeps working. The ends may justify the means.

As for those who say it is all about the money and nothing else: Could it not be that "Black and White"? :bandit::smoke::laugh:

Could it not be 80% about the money and 20% about the bad image:devious:?

Just some childish clowns who can't get enough attention. I'm sure they show the videos to the boyz back home who can't travel to make them jealous and prove what big men they are in the DR.

Meanwhile 85% of everyone laugh at them - including probably 50% of their fellow AA travelers.

It looked like they may have owed the motoconch guy some money. Hard to tell with all the stupid antics. But I was really hoping he was going to smack one of those maroons. That nonsense with the 100 peso bill was disgusting.

There are no words for people like that. I was embarrassed for the human race.

The 10 year old on the bike even knew they were idiots. And people question that Doms are sick of these idiots coming to their country or town? Give me a break.

Who are the winners?

Those who want to redevelop Sosua, of course. Let's see who that is now. For sure the government, but who are the money people?

Is it the Chinese? Does the silk road lead to Sosua?

My man MR Spank, I did not see anyone in that video that completed a sentence. Where I am from they are virtually unemployable do to their bizarre slang and vernacular. I don't know any of them but if the D.R wants to keep out these type of buffoons I am all for it.
Indications of a "smooth talker" ??, I definitely missed that.

If it's big money people what I don't understand in why Sosua? What's so special about Sosua and why such the fight? If it was for say Bahia de las Aguilas I'd uderstand, but Sosua? It's not like DR is short on the coastline, whoever the big money people are they can move 20 miles up or down the coast and recreate the whole Sosua "infrastructure" for a few million dollars.
