They did have Terrific happy hour specials. But...they made NOTHING from them. Fact!

Happy Hour concepts were not designed to make money from the special hours or discounts themselves. They were created to assist an establishment with increasing it's clientele, and promoting/instilling the name, substance, and quality of the business to those they may not otherwise attract.

The fact that the business mentioned above made "NOTHING" from their happy hours is reflective of the module, not the establishment itself. Now, if persons remained consuming in the establishment, returned to the establishment, or recommended it to others based on their positive experiences there during the happy hour, then they did indeed generate a benefit from them.

A business that is hoping to survive solely on just a good happy hour, is failed to doom from the beginning.

The beach closures by the government do not include the main Sosua Beach or Play Alicia.
Are they confirmed to be remaining open during the current State of Emergency?
Yes, unless the increase in cases makes it necessary to tighten down still futher.

Seriously? There's 50,000 people in Sosua. If you can't see the middle class (or those struggling to get into it), I can't help you. But my statement is correct, there are more middle class Doms in Sosua then there were 20 - 30 years ago. And it is they that have been pushing for a different "atmosphere" in the downtown area - for quite awhile now. Those are just plain facts. You can make light of them, but they're indisputable.

Those citizens, along with certain real estate developments that are inevitable, are what will force changes on Sosua. It's going to happen.
It is already happening. Not obvious yet, but the process is in motion

Yes, and that will soon be happening

Painting beautiful murals all over the town center is not for the benefit of the visitors who come for the prostitutes. And all the recent construction, renovation and already announced new tourist facilities is not, either. Neither was purchase of 3 new garbage trucks, or the work being done to repair the sidewalks.

The plan is to locate the prostitutes at the far end of Pedro Clisante and let the visitors who come for them congregate there,

That is funny because, so far all I've seen is the return of the Mongers and I don't see that changing anytime soon. I know the costs of taking a family with kids on vacations (i have 4 grown children) and given the condition of the world economy I don't see the client demographics of Sosua changing any time soon
PLUS
You have Punta Cana and all other global ESTABLISHED family destinations which I imagine will be offering some great deals to lure families back so good luck transitioning your client base under these circumstances.

Here's a real estate factoid: The only real estate that has not been torn down, remodeled and re-invented are the Pyramids. Sosua is a no brainer. A Caribbean beach town with an international airport just a few minutes drive. It's going to happen, Sosua will get a facelift. The Dom gov't wants it to happen. And the majority of local Dom's want it to happen. Some land owners want it to happen. Some large investors want it to happen. Of course the Wuhan Flu is a monkey wrench in the works, so the timing of everything is up in the air.

I"m not surprised the mongers are returning first. The lure of that is much stronger then Jimmy, Suzie and kids needing to check out the Caribbean. Jimmy and Suzie are going to be much more cautious. Until people start getting on planes again in the same numbers as before the virus, nothing much will happen. But that doesn't mean it's not coming.

That is correct. Most people don't realize the amount of Baby Boomer cash that is coming up for grabs.

What is funny?

The airport has only been open about 10 days and most people are for cautious about jumping into planes for a Caribbean vacation. They are home dealing with all the issues there.

Not at all surprising the mongers are here.

Marriot is planning to open another hotel in Sosua next year. They apparently know something you don't. Likewise the number of new condo complexes that have opened in the past year and are under construction..

Sosua is changing and will continue to do so.

Efforts, both from the capital as well as the old mayor were attempting to change it into a family oriented destination. This is no secret. Many businesses were closed down in this process. I personally think they may back off some as they will be desperate for any visitors regardless of demographic. They have been in short supply of U.S. dollars and that has effected the exchange rate. They will welcome the $$.

THAT is what is funny to me. It didn't happen, although it was in motion, prior to Wuhan Virus and so the time table is way off, in my opinion. Prostitutes out soon ? family atmosphere? I think not. I don't buy the If you build it they will come theory. In time yes possibly but you can't forget all the competition for the $$ both internal, primarily but not exclusively Punta Cana plus other destinations, i.e. Miami, Orlando, Jamaica, Mexico, Turks and Caicos etc etc. Add to it warnings from the U.S. Gov regarding visiting here and I don't think it bodes well for it to happen "soon" as you wrote. Funny to me.

Yes poor Lobo,
The pedo scene in Europe over the ages is well known. Unfortunately they brought it with them on vacation in the DR. It was so prolific that many Europeans took their pensions and moved to the DR. So what if the Jetblue crowd want to bang ugly Haitian whores. It’s legal unlike the pedophiles preying On poor children. Thank god it is not as bad as in Asia where the Aussies drive up the numbers.
So poor Lobo, I am a broke ass American that can’t afford to pay for sex. Anyone that knows me says my “ savior faire “ is that of a Sumo wrestler. The only action I get is with the wife. And of course when and if a child is conceived she will not need me anymore so maybe I will take my cheap pasola to Pedro Clisante and look for a date.
So not much has happened in the good old US of A except saving the world from some crazy German named Hitler and Tojo over in Japan. I love the anti American crap spewing from other countries. It’s like the New England Patriots. Everyone hates a constant winner except the people who reap the benefits of being a winner.
Sosua is a sunny place
for shady people.
