We knew a General (ex) back in the day who lived in Arroyo Hondo, again this was way back then. The house was unbelievable. The woodwork, the patio garden, it was all stunning. But it was the beautiful artwork, ceramics, tile work, etc.. that made that house such a beauty. I remember the staircase, curved with beautiful marble work. It would be interesting to see the house now. Now a days some would say it was not "with the times/or current". I have seen some of the so called "popular well-known" properties", and they all seem the same. Glass, chrome, mirrors, strange colored lighting, white everything, etc...
Those are normal features commonly found new homes geared to the middle class/upper middle class everywhere in the DR. For example, this house doesn't belong to a well known Dominicsn, but is on sale in Moca. Typical of the modern/minimalist style currently in style in the DR, particularly the ceiling.

That's similar to the redecorated home of Albert Mena, shown in the OP (and cited below), which isn't a home of the rich (and nor is he rich by any stretch of the imagination.) It should be noted that the house itself is nit new, he redecorated the home once he bought and this includes the ceiling and other stuff. Homes in that development aren't like his on the inside, but that is mostly because that development isn't new. If it was, chances are they would all be like his considering these are middle class homes.

Albert Mena in Santo Domingo near Avenida Luperón. He's from a rural area in the Cibao (Cenoví), but grew up in one of the toughest neighbornoods of SD (Cristo Rey). He himself his childhood and young adulthood was very hard coming from a tough background.

$200K USD for that house? Doesn't seem like a screaming bargain to me.

Willy's building a house? Where?
On the corner of Calle Pablo Neruda and?? You can't miss it,just look for the huge wall surrounding it. I have heard that he also owns the new building going up where the old Cucu bar used to be,not sure if that is in fact true. Effing crook....

There's no Dominican family without a lawyer or general in the tree
NO generals and no lawyers in our family... tampoco doctors, engineers, chemists, ni mucho menos astrophysicists, astronomers, economists, accountants... NADA, nadita de nada, just a guy who briefly taught ROTC cadets at UPR, and another with a short stint as an instructor at Altos de Chavón design school.
Without a doubt, the largest Dominican family with the least amount of well-to-do folks. And to make matters worse, the family even boasts an atheist in its midst, much to their chagrin. But we surely have fun.

I thought he (Julio Iglesias) had a villa in the Corales in Punta Cana?

Yup
My mistake

In 1997, Julio Iglesias and Oscar de la Renta joined the Group as co-investors and have made Puntacana Resort & Club their home.

Better yet, the 'casita' of Miguel Vargas Maldonado in Casa de Campo. One of his many residences.

You can bet an interior designer had something to do with it.

His money is from a family ham business right ?

What is with people and interior designers? You don't have to be rich to commission one. For example, this Dominican girl is not rich by any stretch and commissioned an interior designer for her new (rented) apartment in SD (moving from Santiago).

That's actually quite recent. The video itself is about 4 days old.
